Good question. To be in Kindle Unlimited, I think you need to be in Kindle Select.

To be included in Kindle Unlimited (KU), you must meet the KDP Select requirements and enroll your Kindle eBook in KDP Select. If you don’t want your Kindle eBook in Kindle Unlimited (KU), you have the option to remove it from KDP Select.

This is what Kindle Select says:

Your Kindle eBook must also be exclusive to the Kindle Store for the KDP Select enrollment period.

So, yes, you'd have to remove your book from Kindle Select and Kindle Unlimited. I think each author has to decide how much benefit they are getting from these programs and make a decision based on that.

As an exclusive to TheNextBigWriter, I wanted the site's members to be the first to gain access to videos about Booksie Limited Editions (BLEs). No one else has this link, not even Booksie members. We hope to launch on Thursday. If you decide to publish a BLE, let me know and I'll feature it.

Hi all,

I apologize for not being as present as I would like over the past few weeks. Some spam has collected and I spent some time today clearing it from the site.

Much of my time has been taken up over the last couple of months with a new project that I think will help writers on TheNextBigWriter. Very shortly, Booksie (the sister site to TheNextBigWriter) will be releasing a new feature that will significantly improve how writers publish digital books and readers buy them. The new feature allows writers to publish Limited Editions of their work, choosing the quantity they want to release and the price. This is similar to a limited edition print. Limited Editions can't be copied and provide ownership to the purchaser, just like a buyer has ownership over a physical book. For contrast, when someone purchases a book on Amazon, they aren't really buying the book, they are receiving a license to read it. A book "owner" on Amazon can't re-sell the book, transfer it, or bequeath it to their heirs. All of this can be done with a Limited Edition. And it's not just books we are creating as LEs. Short stories, poems, any kind of written content can quality.

Most TheNextBigWriter members quality for a free Booksie Premium subscription so you are all eligible to try out Limited Editions. We plan to roll the platform out in the next week so if you are interested, let me know either via PM or by messaging below. I plan to give TheNextBigWriter members extra exposure as we ramp up our promotion of the platform via a PR campaign and advertising. This site has so much talent!

One of the original goals of Booksie was to serve as a marketing platform for TheNextBigWriter authors. Writing a book is only half the battle. I believe Limited Editions has the potential to help TNBW authors promote and monetize their writing.

Once this launch happens, I plan to circle back and make some long awaited upgrades to TheNextBigWriter to continue making it a great place for authors to develop their writing.

Another item: Sol, have you had a chance to look at the functioning of spellchecking on various important TNBW text fields? I no longer recall which ones had/didn't have spellchecking, but there definitely was more of it before the crash. I especially find myself looking up plenty of words when posting to the forum.

EDIT: Found the problem. My browser (Chrome) is able to spellcheck words in at least some TNBW text fields (e.g., forum posts) but the feature was off. Not sure how that happened. But that seems to be the fix.

EDIT 2: Did a little more testing. Chrome's spellchecking seems to work on ALL major TNBW text fields except the closing comment to an inline review and the closing comment when responding to that review.

The site never had spell-check. I think it was all your browser. Nothing should have changed on the site pre and post crash to have changed the way the fields interact with the spell check. Maybe something changes on the browser side? I'll do a quick search and see if there is something we need to add.

Sol, when I get emails sent to me by TNBW, and I click on the link within (e.g., to go to a new message from another member), my security software (Bitdefender) intercepts my attempt to do so, and kicks up an error message like the following (edited for brevity):

Your connection to this web page is not safe due to an unmatching security certificate.
This means that the certificate was issued for a different web address than the one it is being used for, and you run the risk of exposing your data by accessing this page.

I can force my way past it, although I never do so at any other site. I'd prefer not to have to do it here either since there's always a chance the site's been hacked.

I'll check this out. Might be something with our email configurations.

As for myself, I find my billing isn't what it was when I renewed. Now it reads Oct-2023 to May-2024. I paid for a full year, not 7 months.

It's because I gave an extra six month. Your account billing actually doesn't start. until May. Ignore what's on TNBW right now. It was the only way we could easily provide the extra months. The same should be true with Dagny. It should correct at some point in the future. If the account doesn't adjust, let me know and I'll find a solution.

Sol, I haven't heard anything since my post about my account a few days ago and since you have responded to others since that time, I thought I should make another attempt to correct my account. As stated earlier, I was able to enter the sight through an old email address, but it doesn't show my account paid up since June and therefore I'm stuck as a basic member rather than a Premium member. I can't find anywhere in billing or anywhere else to change my email to the correct address. Please let me know how to remedy this situation. Thanks. Take care. Vern
