No, I have to finish it ... and then post the scene.

Finally, I think I've got this scene--not even a chapter!  I need to work on some phonetic accent--sorry, but this once it's necvesay.

Laptop screens are fun to replace. I once received a free like-new laptop because a customer didn't want to deal with the hassle of replacing the screen, which they had broken by stepping on the darn thing.

Do replacement screens often end up brighter?  Mine seems to be.

I've started the first of the two reviews I owe you.  I'll pick it up later today.

THE FLAPTOP IS BACK UP!!

I kept tape on the bezel repair while I put it back on.  The repair held.  I don't expect it to hold if I have to take it off again.

Now where to put that spare screen ... ?  I'm down to negative space in my apartment.

I'll start to get caught up before breakfast.  Now ... if my internet provider doesn't get flaky again ...

Gee, I wish I'd had you for this.  I broke the bezel in one place pulling it off.  I give the assisred superglue a 55% chance of holding it together when I snap it back on.  And you can bet I'll test the thing before I do.

Still expect the replacement screen on Thursday.  Crossing fingers I don't fardle the works when I put it back together.  One connector, four screws, a repaired snap-on bezel, two more screws, and sticky covers (which I can do without) for the screws.

But I'll power it up and chexk before I snap that bezel back in.

What if you got some Latin text from Virgil or Marcus Aurelius and fed it to Google Translate?  It might give you something useful.  Or, the text of the Carmina Burana is online.  That has Latin parts, some of them quite racy.  (Et ius virginia, resserassem vincula!)

Latin has no articles.  You might omit them when you can.
The copula is often omitted (In vino veritas).
The in/into distiction gets blurred.
There is an 'absolute' construction for circumstance.  (His horse having been fed, he atttended his guests.)
There are past (plu-) and future perfect tenses corresponding to our perfect aspect, but no distinction matching our progressive (continuing) aspect.

The point about registers is good.  You can also use differerent grammar patterns for speakers in the different languages.  If you know a Latin-speaker it will help ... even if the person only reads it.

Of Yoda-speak a milder version think.

Catchphrases, proverbs, explitives maybe, in the 'real' tongue?

I made only a suggestion or two on the cover, so there's no need to include me.  That is, if you were thinking of it.  Which probably you weren't.  I go shut up now.

Wow!  Thank you.

Where can I find this?

I hope to have the replacement screen no later than Thursday.  Then I need to put the thing together ... and that's gonna be tough with my fingers crossed.

Incidentally, Dorothy Sayers indulged in a Tom Swifty in =The Nine Tailors=:

" 'With the big sugar nippers they nipped off his flippers,' Lord Peter Wimsey quoted flippantly."
And if anyone knows from what his Lordship was quoting, please let me know.  (Oh, IIRC this occurred while examining a dis-handed corpse.)

I picked a bad time to break my laptop screen.  If EBay hadn't been so ill-mannered in its messaging I might have had a replacement screen tomorrow.  Now, Tuesday or Wednesday, or worse if I have to hunt another supplier.

Doing a review on this "smart" phone would take hours and add 15lbs to my BP.

The screen on my flaptop has died.  It looks like mechanical damage.  Not sure how long it will be out of service.  W/o it it's not even feasible to look for a replacement.

Dorothy Sayers knew her tools very well indeed.  Aspiring to her skill is good.  Assuming you have it is not.

There's a lot I'm not comfoetable with in the last three chapters and I want to think for a while before I put it in words.  Some of it is continuity.  Some of it is letting Alda dominate the story for several chapters.  Some of it is falling outside the foreshadow.

So I'm going to mull it for a day or two.  You'll see me doing other things.  Don't worry; I haven't forgotten you.

Good news.  I'll hope for more.

Your chapters, later.  But did Jaylene get left behind?  There's no mention of her.

I believe those are called "action tags".

I think they are called 'beats'.

If you're good enough, you can get away with anything.  But be prepared, like JKR, to get a few rejections.

Is it a cliche that the drill sergeant barks orders?  Or just a fault to use the word as a tag?

Not in this one.  She's called to fprbearance.  Later, though ...

"Little one ((no))!  I am coming."

Not at all.  Confontation in the street.  Subtexts.

Had a BFO while thinking about SSnape, best conceived character I've ever read.
