I left a review on 11--it's a jarring shift from youth to adult IMHO, but others will probably disagree. I think it needs a bridge scene or chapter.

I started 50 shades and didn't get very far. Years ago I might have been interested enough in the subject matter to plod through, but now all I see is the atrocious lack of editing.

Here's another bug for you. When I review and there is a word or phrase in italics, it puts that one word/phrase on a line all by itself. It even then puts a period or question mark on a line all by itself. And this is not just one author, but lots. I know just today I read Ann Everett, Linda Lee, and PByrd and all of their work had this problem. That tells me it's not in their manuscript, but a site issue.

Bumping this because I've gotten several reviews mentioning odd formatting which seems to be associated to the use of italics. I have not seen the formatting issue in the reviews I've been doing as of yet.

You've written so many, I have a hard time keeping track of which I've read or haven't read. I don't believe Broken is one of those I commented on. Sorry!

I have opted to use this wider exposure on 3 of my pieces because I have a beta reading group who like the option of reading from their computers or devices rather than a word doc. They aren't members and have little interest in becoming involved in this site. It's a little risky but then again so is selling your completed work on Amazon (tons of stories have been stolen and plagiarized from that site).

On the old forums we used it to post pieces of our work needing a true shred...as in in-depth picking apart of something. She's on the new site but she hasn't joined this forum as of yet I don't think. And if she has, she hasn't posted anything yet.

At our humble little gig last night, we were approached on the break by a musician who complimented us on sounding like a "real band". It wasn't until he was about to leave that we discovered he was the lead guitarist from Wishbone Ash. How cool is that?  And if you aren't familiar, they were huge in Europe around the time of Canned Heat, Humble Pie and Uriah Heep. It wasn't our best night and our drummer summed up our feelings best, "Never know who you're gonna suck in front of".

I'm gonna side with vern on this one. Other than separate threads for your books, the free flow mish mash had it's appeal.

Thanks Sol, couldn't ask for more than that!

Only if and when it happens. Knowing how slow things tend to go around here, it could be a while. I'm happy he changed his mind on this!

So happy you are here and finding your way finally. It will get better as time goes on.

Also bumping the request to make keeping track of where you left off on novel reviews as easier process. It was tough on the old site, but even tougher on this one. Perhaps a color or highlight of anything you've reviewed in the chapter list drop down? Or leaving the check mark at the last spot you reviewed?

The way SOL explained the points for posting to groups made sense to me. The extra cost is taking the entire project into consideration. What this means is if you only have a chapter or two up on the premium side, you'll only be paying for those couple of chapters to add them here. But if you have a half-written, or near complete novel--adding it to one of your newer groups will be costly because you are paying for the entire work at once in order to add it to a new group.

I didn't explain it half as well as he did, but it does make sense why the cost is so high.

For those of you who've joined...Sol just announced on the Premium forums that he's changed his mind and will be incorporating our OLD FORUM onto this site!!!!  We will finally get our central meeting spot with the ability to create threads within threads back!

Somewhere along the way, if you would consider removing the word count limit in the In-Line review boxes, it would be much appreciated. Doing IL reviews is wonderful but if we didn't have the limit we could expand on why we are making a suggestion instead of having to use the reply box at the end for such purposes. It sort of defeats the purpose of having In line comments if we have to rely on the larger box to clarify/expand on certain parts of of the IL review.

I can't seem to add a chapter to my latest novel. I hit the 'Save and Publish" and have even tried the "Save and Preview" and nothing happens.

Um, help?

Judy, drop me a message and let me know what's happening. Maybe I can help you sooner than Sol might see this.

Checked out the website, links to all readable content are redirected to spam-like web hosting services. I'd love to investigate further but do not want to risk a virus.

He explained his rationale for breaking them up in another thread...while it makes a bit of sense, I guess, it's still a picky and confusing thing to add. Genre tagging is and always has been enough to figure out the difference between a non-fiction piece of work, and a novel.

Yes, GP has figured out how but I can't remember the code now. Hopefully she'll pop back in and enlighten us.

Yeah, this is a different format forums he chose. It's awful actually. But I figured at least the categories will stick so we can find things maybe? Dunno.

One of the main reasons I felt the need to create this 'group' is because not only am I losing track of what people are saying and doing because everything is spread so wide, but I'm also constantly losing track of what groups I've posted things in. If we can get more people using this forum as a central spot, it will be MUCH easier to keep track and in touch. Make sense?

Awesome. Im working on the dialogue. Actually refining some things but want one of the characters to have a Bostonian accent. Not real Ireland thick. Does that make sense? It might take a few days to determine which character to change. Thank you for the help. I will let you know asap. ZAck

That odd mix of Irish and Bostonian is right up my alley. You can shoot me a message with questions, or drop me an email at  lukkabloom AT cox DOT net.
