Just to spite you, there is another chapter up. I'm on fire! (new material included in the beginning)
Hey, Norm, I'm writing again! Let's see if I can whip through these next two chapters with only a few name changes. Will change the voice so that the right people sound real.

Hey Norm! I wrote another one!
Hey New Jersey! I took your advice about making Pundican a person that Alda knows and can grieve for!

They are better, at least for today. Thanks for asking and your good thoughts. I think they help tip my "C" in the right direction so that I can spend more time on this book.
OK, I revised chapter 16's ending. There is a LOT more investigation of the crime scene and observations rather than passive observances. Lewellyn asks a key question. Alda dreams of peeling potatoes. Tazar proves his worth.
All reviews thus far are integrated into the master copy.
If any have time, I would appreciate short reviews of the ending. Owe you guys. (Hey Norm, I'm writing!)

Re: The Sorcerer's Progress (1,528 replies, posted in Fantasy/Magic & Sci-Fi)
I've got Tazar's analysis of the conference room in my head and I've got three goals:
Prove to Jaylene that the assassination was a rush job
Debate if the magic uses to poison the blood had anything to do with the Catacombs
Get Alda to give up and Jaylene and go back under the Veil. Jaylene will go under without Alda initially.
Then Lewellyn gets to shake Alda out of her comfort zone and wonders what the goal of the assassin was to hide the body in a place it could be found in five days.(about the time it takes for the potato hopper to be cleaned out). What would change once it was confirmed that the Defiler and death magic was involved?
I.E. the Catacombs would go into lockdown. Which means Jaylene could be underground with the assassin. And without Alda. And as 8th circle, Alda gets to lead the expedition (with Lewellyn and Valharic) underground.
Rewrites are a hoot. At least I have one chapter in my head already.

Get it in print and learn from the reviews. Writing action is different from the dialogue and description you've been doing so far. Stay in the moment. Don't let the action get bogged down with detail or past actions. K, can you put up the mental K W a N scene where she is in two other heads at the same time during a stressful moment?
Credit where it is due. K does really good action. He kills off way too many characters for no reason, but that is a topic for another day.

Day 6&7 of chemo is rough. I'll spare the details but there is a lot of nausea. New Jersey put a bow on his head and drove himself out to visit which was a marvelous distraction. (Happy bday to me) In the midst of me saying, "I gotta go lay down," there was a lot of conversation about books and freeway interchanges:-)
So we played it by ear. Today is a much better day. Helps that I slept 18 hours. This kind of fatigue is a new kind of torture. You wake up tired no matter what you do.
Good news is that I'm tolerating the chemo so will get round 5&6 and then a CT scan. If scan shows decreased tumor(which I believe to be the case) then I get referred to a surgeon again-good news if it happens.

There needs to be an alternate explanation for the narcitics. Like an approved steroid to encourage aggression that the emperor approved. A portable pain pump is too dangerous and easily seen. What is Apollo's excuse if this is noticed?
Ex: he is injured and examined by someone other than the prescribing doc.
During impromptu sex
He goes swimming
Activates pump while under emperor's camera scrutiny
Random drug testing
I prefer a constant flow of meds or a once weekly injection. Safer for the doc

Was I having a chemo moment? Some stray comment that you had saying that reviewers were wanting more detail and you didn't know why.
