He writes an awful lot for someone who admits he has the attention span of a soap bubble.
This sounds an awful lot like a critique he gave me over a year ago (awwww he likes you too!)

My situation is opposite. I lost my formatting on the old site. No italics ever...and all my paragraphs ran into each other. That's why I just had a space between paragraphs instead of indents.

Nailing it to your forehead helps, at least in my experience.

New Jersey,
I'm just reread your idea of Horse following Kha as Sil is dragged behind Kha on a travois. I think there would be a meal of horsemeat after that. Still makes me smile. I love vexing Kha.

Sometimes hitting random strangers with the cane helps in recovery. It doesn't help the nerve, but it makes the patient feel so much better :-)

You're back! Yippee! Has everything calmed down since Xmas is over?
Oh, to bring you up to date, I only went to one day of the Chicago conference. In hindsight, it's pretty hilarious. I was dressed to the 9's, had a black turtleneck and great jewelry, wore my cashmere coat...blah, blah, blah...I even had business cards printed so I could pass them out if necessary.
I was as sick as a dog with the flu but didn't want to miss the conference. So I sat in one of the lectures, leaned against a wall, held up by my fancy coat as I dozed through the morning. I really wanted to go to two lectures. One on website design, the other on revising. Both were in the afternoon.
It was hell.
I left at the end of the first day and holed up at a friend's house. They fed me mashed potatoes and gravy and let me sleep for 18 hours. I missed the second day. It just wasn't worth going back for another round. Me vs. Flu. Flu won.
I'm better now. What do you want reviewed?

New Jersey,
Wanted to say that I integrated your changes. All except one or two made it into the revision. That chapter was a tougher since I was describing a completely new environment. I think that is why it took so long to get this one completed. i learned a lot from that review about my 'placement' descriptions. Thanks!

All the cues we used to have need to be relearned. The scrolling new-post notifications are at the bottom of your home page. The forums are definitely less social. Everyone lost momentum with the switch. You were always a social bunny, so I can see that you would feel a loss. What I suggest is that you restart a group called the 'new/old forums-Get Published!'
Just re invite the people who you enjoyed conversing with. You'll get your socialization. If you wanted to, you could transfer old conversations to get the ball rolling.

Heh, I see K fell over after training his tech-guy in India. Tired after a long night at work? I feel for ya buddy. Flipping from day to night is killer. My son woke me up a 3 am today, bright as a shiny new car and ready to play games.
Instead, I made him do homework in exchange for breakfast. Sometimes, a hungry child is a good thing.
Oh, everybody, I FINALLY finished the new chapter of Mandates. Does anyone have a free moment to take a look?

Re: Group Participation (4 replies, posted in Cop Shop)
My understanding is that Sol can't change Cop Shop to no points. JP, you would have to start a new Cop Shop-no points group and then we would just join up again. JP, if you quit this forum, I don't think it continues (since you are the moderator.) Just send everyone a quickee to notify them so that we don't lose anyone.
You can confirm this with Sol. Another person to consider is KHippolite. He started a forum and decided to disband it when the number of groups was restricted to five.

Re: Paying for Renewal (6 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
So do we get a notice to renew a week before our benefits expire or do I need to take that day off from work? I'm in my free month right now. I've been notified to pay by the site but don't have the option. My goal with this website is to write without interruption, not to have to put a notice in my calendar and wait for the privilege.
I'm not whining, Sol. I promise. All I'm saying is that the notice shouldn't go out until the member has a chance to act on the information. It's like having an alert that the electric for your house is going to be turned off...four weeks before it happens... and not being allowed to pay the bill until a window arrives at the eleventh hour. If that was your situation, I'm pretty sure you'd have strong opinions too.
This sounds like a billing flaw that has been made obvious by the automatic notices of the new website. Can it be corrected? As the person who runs the site, you should have the ability to collect money whenever it arrives. Failing to do so is just bad business.
