K is a big baby who unfairly uses pictures willy-nilly so that he doesn't have to say anything clever. Janet was just pointing out something kinda important. Like the TRUTH!

In Wiccan terminology, a moon day is when you bleed for your period. Not positive but pretty sure on that.

It's 1130 PM here. I'm just about to have lunch. What is this 'late' that you speak of?

Pony up, New Jersey.  How old are you?

K?  (the mysterious man who releases a fact each month in the hope that someone will show up at his doorstep and freak him out)

To answer the same question as I'm asking, I am also 21. I've been 21 almost 29 times, in fact.

He  has a lot to teach, but every now and then he gets lost in understanding the prose about ringing bells and needs an interpreter. There's a place for you, Elisheva.

Toot Toot New Jersey!

I have 1000 words written for the next chapter of Dictates. However, I got sidetracked by a rewrite of Chapter 1 vs prologue. Blame yourself.

Classy.  However, Janet and I both have 2 boys each. Farts are part of waking up and daily conversations. Better than Folgers coffee in the morning.

I like bolt-hole. But there are other options. Net. Securespace. Sanctuary. Shelter. Haven. Safehaven

Eh, give him a glorious shiner and swollen eye. You can fracture his face and he can still fight. He'll have an awesome bruise, but nothing will stop him from playing with a sword.

What you said sounds reasonable.

Remember that if you fracture a nose really well, you get black eyes on both sides. However, you can usually see out of them unless the orbit got cracked

As to being worth half of the TNBW fee…well…shucks! I'm remembering that commercial…Cost of a TNBW membership…50 bucks. The cost of a self-published book…couple hundred bucks….the cost of verbal abuse and someone tearing your life's work to pieces just for the fun of it?  Priceless :-)

Pain from big bruising peaks at three days and then gets better. That is why day 2 is worse than the first day after a car accident. Usually I can start to get people to walk around after the third day. FIghting?  Depends on Anthony's state of mind and toughness, but I guess about 3 days minimum. And he would favor his injured side.

Face swelling gets better after about two to three days as long as the person sleeps with their head elevated. Otherwise it can last as long as a week because the swelling can't drain downwards and clear up.

Assuming there are no rib fractures (those take 6 weeks to heal with the first 10 days being the worst part)

And yes, there was another gunshot to the abdomen that night.  Tonight, I get to work a Saturday PM without another PA available.  I've got the surgeon to bounce questions off of, but no backup when things get busy. Can't wait. At least its cold here. Sometimes that makes a difference.

I love you guys.

Oh, take a look at the pic on my profile. It's the look on Faulter's face when he realizes that Zyrtec stole his left boot again and that all the buttons are missing from his coat. My husband drew it on a Denny's placemat. Hence the pic of pumpkin pie in the background.

I've read this thread twice and I'm still trying to figure what to do. I absolutely agree with previous posts that Jaylene needs to be talking to Kha rather than Melody. Jaylene gets mentioned in the other book, while Melody is a side character for now.

I agree that a common prologue or starting point to each story that links it to the Earthwound is a fabulous idea. I've underplayed the concept thus far because the answer isn't going to be found in these books (rather than making the Earthwound the focus and then failing to deliver) No one except Airen remembers what happened and Kha won't believe her in the beginning.

I agree that there can be clues in each prologue that forces a person to go back and reference the material.

I agree that the magic has to be established in the first paragraph so that the reader knows this is a fantasy world. Elisha did it. One other that I've read has done it. I'm still working on that skill.

I agree that it needs to be trimmed. It seemed to wander IMO, but I got all the necessary info into the chapter. And I got to put Kha into a diaper. Nothing makes me happier than making that man squirm.  It is one of my true delights in life.

Janet, I'd love for you to read the romance parts of my story. I didn't manage to get the bubba-hubba-bang-bang parts written. It's more like mind-games-pet-pet-smooch (and then curtain goes black). However, I'm pretty proud of Kat and Anver as they figure out they are a couple.  If you want, I'll figure out which parts are juicy and have you read them out of sequence.

Either way, I'm going to make a try to satisfy the limitations that you guys have placed before me. As I said before, what is a couple more thousand words?

First a review or two as thanks for you guys.

I have time tonight. Chapter number? Oh, Janet, I read you steam-scenes and will try to get to those three chapters tonight as well.

I'm game to try. it is an interesting challenge. I tried to put a brief flashback in Jaylenes story (first draft) but deleted it because Alda was a better beginning.

K just told me to concentrate on character work. This is from a man who wrote an entire book just so his character could get pregnant and squirt out a child. I'm going to faint now.

I have two days off. Some of that time will be for writing.

Helluva week. Major overtime before Xmas, but it is seriously limiting my fun. People keep shooting each other. They are doing a major wreck-job on my ability to relax at work.

Okey Dokey. The pre-Earthwound challenge is up and on the site, listed as Chapter 100. Kha's perspectiive of the situation is now ready for anyone who wishes to browse. One question. Is this a suitable first chapter? I'm not sold on this being the one, but let me know your opinions.

Not even close. Just getting ready for the big day. Kind of like collecting stuff for my hope chest. I don't want to dive into the many pieces of marketing that will be required. So I joined Facebook last year. This year, I'm going to make the website and started using Twitter to watch and keep track of publishers (not friends). The year after that, I'll probably make a Facebook-exclusive author site. Till then, I'm just assembling the pieces.

You don't have to do it thinking that you're ready to publish. I just think that marketing and getting published is a lot about making contacts and getting familiar with the publishers who make the decisions. I'm going to take it (kind of a little xmas present to myself.)  If you don't, then don't worry. I'll just bring up other classes that I find and see if we can hang out online in another date and time.

Why not? This publishing house also takes submissions for romance. Wanna take a class with me? Please, please, please? The class critiques each other on a forum as people revise their letters. What better thing than to have someone else on the forum who knows the book almost as well as you do?

#fingerlessgloves=guilt

I'm working on the twitter thing. How am I doing?

OK, that's funny!

Here is the link at litreactor.com. Then go to the  online class tab and look for the one about query letters.

Just to spite you all, I'm going to listen and take the advice. (As opposed to others who will remain nameless.) What's another 10 thousand words? Piffle.

Oh, I started researching publishers. I found one who is willing to read submissions about high fantasy and she is teaching a class on how to write a query letter. What better way to get your foot in the door? It is only $99. Anybody interested? It starts December 1.

Maybe I'll put it on my website as well. That would be good material to add other than the, "buy my book." Or, "publish me, please."
