I agree to all of these suggestions. I wish we could work on them but they are not in the budget right now.
If you are wiling to sponsor these upgrades though we could look into doing them more quickly.

you can find a way to give us just a bit more control over what we would like to be visible while keeping the functionality of the forums, that would be absolutely fantastic. If you can't, then so be it, we/I will work around the system to make it work somehow.
Ok. No problem. It's been awhile since I played with these settings. If you want your Group threads to be private, just set the Visibility flag to No for the group. That will block those without membership in the Group. Search engines will not be able to access them either.
Fat chance ever getting a book publishing deal if every uncensored moment about our writing and participation in these groups is visible to the whole world, including book spoilers and casual messgaes in any of the forums we've used to date.
What basis or experience leads you to say this?
This was how the old site worked. In the 10+ years the site has been existence I have yet to hear of anyone not receiving a publishing contract or having any issue whatsoever because of information posted in TheNextBigWriter forum. In fact, I have yet to hear of any publisher having an issue with any work posted on the Internet if it has grown popular. In fact, publishers generally fight to sign work that has become popular online.
In talking with publishers and running my own publishing company, your biggest concern as authors is getting enough people to notice and care about what you have written. If a reader takes the time to dig through a message board on an author website to find a plot spoiler about your book, then you are well on your way.
But if you want to bottle it all up, I'll look into a way of doing it.
The winners of the 2015 Short Story Competition are:
Radio is Not Dead by Brad Foster
As She Sleeps by Dill Carver
Brain Salad Psychology by mikejackson1127
Congratulations to the winners and all entrants!
We will be announcing a new contest shortly.
Happy New Year!
Hi all,
I just wanted to let everyone know we'll be announcing the winners of the short story contest on Thursday. Thanks for your patience. We'll make it before the end of the year .
Sol
Hi Janet,
The site doesn't shouldn't serve ads to Premium members. I think it is something on your computer. Is anyone else experiencing this?
How about New Book Chapters?
Ah, so you are suggesting the wording be changed to New Chapters from New Books. Maybe.
Almost there. Couple more days.
I'm not really sure what you mean because the homepage is almost exactly like the old homepage on the previous site. The only icons are to show if it pays points or if the user is new and there are bonus points. There is no new book label.
It will be one more week. We've been a bit behind but are almost through all of the entries. Thanks for your patience.
Sol
This is not from the site. It must be something that installed on your browser. Premium members do not see any banner ads or pop-up ads on the site.
I temporarily reenabled the spam account so you should all be able to delete the connection request. We'll fix that bug in the meantime.
Sol
Yes, I see the glitch. Will get it fixed. Thanks!
Hi all,
The winners of the superhero origins contest are:
First place - Hardon by Dill Carver
Runner-up - Stringbean by Ceridwen
Runner-up - Vibro by Vern
We enjoyed reading all of the entries and hope that many of them will be expanded into more developed stories or novels. Many are certainly worthy. We hope everyone enjoyed the contest!
Sol
You have to post it again.
Hey Sol,
Is there a simple way to republish or do I need to make a new published version of the work?
If a book, you can create a new chapter version. If non-chapter content (short story, poem, article, etc.) then you must publish a fresh copy.
Actually, everything except the closing comment auto saves so it is there. To find it, go to reviews and then inline posted. It's not so intuitive finding a draft so e need to upgrade that at some point.
Many of you have already seen the notice about the short story competition. Go ahead and get your stories in! One item that I want to mention for those who haven't participated in a site contest before is that you can update your story up until the deadline. Use the feedback you are receiving to make your entry(ies) even better.
Good luck!
Hi Janet, You can paste the logo and the link into your website using the following code:

Thanks for linking!

It's really disheartening to know that I spent a ton of time and effort to upgrade the site and all you really wanted in the first place was a message board, which can be bought and launched for about $200 in two weeks. Perhaps I will shut this down and go back to the old site and the old message board. That seems to be the message here.
There is a fight club already.

Anyone is welcome to create a water cooler group.
I can verify that LAMackey is a second account for someone who is a founding member.
Does the 'No one should have to pay double points' statement only apply to the re-publishing of pre-published work to the Basic Group?
If you already paid points on the old site then no matter the state of the content (active or inactive) you should not have to pay points again to publish it to any group. If you are finding that not to be the case, please give me the name of the content and I will have it checked out.
