It sometimes take me two to three weeks to reciprocate all incoming reviews. I'm too addle minded to track that much information for any length of time. I want to make sure everyone who is supposed to gets a recip.

Don't know if it will help, but I keep an acknowledgements log for those who have read my work (and where I'm at with them). This also provides me with the names of those I want to acknowledge when I'm ready to publish.

This is the best example I can find in the Chicago Manual of Style:

the cardinal; John Cardinal Dew (in formal contexts) or Cardinal John Dew; Cardinal Dew; the sacred college of cardinals.

Based on this, it appears it should be Pope's council of cardinal advisors. Perhaps some others will chime in, but that's what I would be using.

Will be getting to the revised list shortly. Just finished my first edit pass of Xavier Sear: Angola and sent it to my ARC team. My goals is to send it to my publisher the beginning of December. In the meantime, back to reading, reviewing, and writing.

Note to Randall K.:  I'm planning on reviewing your next two chapters. I stopped to think about the first of the two and other events overtook things   I may do both non inline and inline.

No worries. I see you've competed some reviews. I'm just getting Xavier Sear: Angola ready to send out to my ARC team and then I'll begin catching up.

Oops... I wrote the above message and then went to his account to see if he'd posted anything.  ACCOUNT CLOSED.  That's odd.

I saw the same (after my welcome). Guess he changed his mind.:)

One thing for everyone to keep in mind is many publishers won't take on exceedingly long manuscripts, so word count is something to keep an eye on. I know for awhile, one of my publishers refused to accept any manuscript more than 99K words, regardless of genre.  If you're finding they're too long, perhaps find a good place to end one novel and start another one, if that makes any sense.

Late last year, I helped a writer with a manuscript about his father's life during the Great Depression. He had it polished and sent to a publisher. It was just over 135K words. The publisher told him to break it into two volumes and they would consider it.

Everyone in this group has written a great story and I hope to pick up my reviewing by the end of the month. Xavier Sear: Angola will be going out to my ARC team around the 20th. While I'm waiting for their feedback, I'll resume my reviews of everyone who is active in the group.

Many congrats to all!

The other thing you suggest in your comments is that I ignore your comments for this novel and try to apply the principles you describe in my next one. I'm not comfortable with that suggestion because I don't want to abandon this damn book I've been working on for years, and I'm not sure I'll ever write another one, at least not one with the sorts of HEROES and VILLAINS you describe above. Maybe I'll go back to my mystery stories, they seemed easier.
Finally, I think I should say thank you for trying to read, understand, analyze and comment on my Environmental Armageddon story. I don't think, in retrospect, I ever had it well enough constrained to make it a good candidate for your alpha to omega review group. I fear that has made it an intractable task for you and others.

I've enjoyed your story, Alkemi. Hope you keep going with it!

Many thanks to everyone who helped me with your reviews--couldn't have done it without you.  Regards, Randall

Randall, what about your Angola story. I notice you have posted the final chapter. Will you be leaving it up hoping for more reviews? Or will you soon be taking it down and starting a new story?

Yes, I'll be leaving it up until the end of October.   There's another one already under way: Revenge. The first nine chapters of this one are posted. his is the sequel to Colombian Betrayal.   Whichever one you want to go for is fine with me.:)
