Topic: Who’s the point master?

I’m old enough to remember when TNBW used to have a daily/weekly/monthly ranking of the top reviewers (and stories, for that matter). Guess that was too competitive / Type A for some, which I understand, but it would be nice to see the most active reviewers getting some well-deserved TNBW love.

In that spirit, how many points do you have? I’ll get things started with my grand trust fund of 1136.34. At the rate I write, I’m set for life (I’d gladly share if the site let me). I suspect some of you have accumulated even more points over the years. So who is the top dog?

Re: Who’s the point master?

You beat me by about 100 points. I also wish the site allowed us to share points.

Only 946.59 here.

2068 here.

Re: Who’s the point master?

2068! That’s impressive! Wish the site would reintroduce some metrics to encourage and spur on this kind of engagement. Small thing, I know, but >2000 points deserves some recognition because of all the hours of reading and reviewing it represents. I know that’s not why you guys do it, but still...

Impressive. Most impressive. Obi-Wan has taught you well.
(I am such a nerd.)

Re: Who’s the point master?

Definitely not me at 350~. But then, I've put five entire novels through TNBW plus chapters from three more.:)

Re: Who’s the point master?

Dang! I think at my highest I was around 175. But now I’m down to 50 and tend to spend them as fast as I get ‘em.

I've got over 4K.

Impressive, Jack! You should get a gold star by your avatar or something!

Longevity and reviewing over that time span is the key. I think, though Sol might correct me on this, I’ve been a member here since 2008. Twelve years, nine novels workshopped,  and tens of hundreds of reviews later, I remain committed to TNBW. I’ve given my reasons for my continued membership here a few times over those years. A site such as this can’t be beat for novel critiques. Whether you self-publish or want to polish before submission to a publisher, you can’t go wrong with letting the knowledgeable folks at TNBW weigh in on your creation.

I believe Flo was the grandmaster when they were shown. Wherever she is now, she had like a gazillion points, nobody even close. Take care. Vern

Last I heard, Flo was alive and well in Seattle.

Re: Who’s the point master?

2071 here, and I've been sluggish (?? lol, yes, sluggish!) for so long now! Flo's doing well! I have her on facebook!

I asked my doctor, "what's the best thing I can do to survive the pandemic?"  he replied, "the best thing you can do is to stop drinking and smoking, and stop chasing women.: I said  "doc, I don't deserve the best. What else you got?"  I'm well. Been using the downtime for rewriting. Runaways and my bigfoot story, which is now called Wild Woman of the Woods. I see you're still in the hunt when it comes to storytelling. Keep up the good work, john.

Re: Who’s the point master?

273 as of this writing. Not been very active lately due to moving into our new house recently (lack of Internet for 9 days) and my wife's ever-dangerous health issues. Four to six appts almost every week - but it keeps her alive, so no complaints; just the issues as they are. Keep writing, everyone. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Re: Who’s the point master?

Happy Thanksgiving, Alan (and all my virtual TNBW writing buddies). Alan, I hope you and your wife have a healthy and happy 2021. Medical issues can be trying, but family is always key, and it sounds like you have a close one. Best of luck with the new year.

Re: Who’s the point master?

A happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving to one and all!
