Happy new year everyone!

I found a great description of this site as "In this community, you’ll find writers who offer professional, no-fluff feedback. There’s not a lot of random activity here, but rather a more somber discourse on writing." I thought - count me in!

I am just finishing up the story arc/plot skeleton of a historical novel that describes my family's experience in Soviet Russia. Doing a lot of research, interviews, memoir collection at this stage. Will be posting them as snippets for feedback. I am writing in Russian to capture time & place better, and translating as I go, with intent to publish the book in English.

Looking over forums to see which are most suitable for technical writing discussions. Let me know if you have a favorite!

I don't think it makes a hill of beans whether you give chapters names or not for a product ready for publishing -- perhaps different story on this site. I put chapter names in my novel on this site for additional description about the chapter topic, but do not have them in my master draft. I feel that on site perhaps a possible reviewer might get some inkling of whether to continue reviewing that next chapter but when/if a person buys the book they are probably not going to be influenced by chapter names. Just my opinion. Take care. Vern

PS: Type numbers? Who cares.

I include chapter names when I post on TNBW but they are eliminated by the time I submit my manuscripts. I use natural numbers for chapters.

Understood, Suin, and I hope all goes well for you.

When this review group was formed, I intentionally wanted to get a range of different genre writers so that each of us could get a look at how other kinds of novels are constructed story-wise. You fulfilled the romance genre very well, and your novel is a great read with an interesting plot. Everyone knows, or should know, that romance novels take the lion's share of readership among all genres, so there's only good things to learning about how such stories are written.

Well said, Jube!

Hi guys,
I've decided to take a break from this site for the next few months as I just don't have the space for it in my life right now. I'll be sorry to miss out on finishing all of your books and receiving your reviews. I still have two weeks left of my current membership so if you feel like I owe you reviews, please let me know so I can complete them before my account expires.
Thanks,
Siun

Good luck with whatever you having going on.  Regards, Randall

And the same from rainy Scotland. Since there's only the two of us, we'll combine Thanksgiving with Xmas when our son comes over for two weeks during the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Understand what both Ray and Bill are saying. I still have several loyal reviewers and occasionally a new one will pop in for a chapter or so.  I'm a bit behind on my reciprocal reviews but will be getting back to them hot and heavy as soon as I wrap up the last two chapters of A Cartel's Revenge. They're almost ready for posting, so I'll be back reviewing in a day or so.  Regards, Randall

Welcome back, Linda!

Completed an inline review of CJ's Final Conflict, chapter 2 (v.2).

Completed an inline review of Matthew's Humanity's Abyss:The Girl Who Lost the Earth, Book 2, chapter 1B.

I write first thing in the morning or late at night. All depends on access to the computer and what we're doing on a given day.  When on our desktop, I'm in our office. If I use my laptop, I'm at the dining table (or sometimes at the kitchen island). No matter where I'm at, I have to have coffee--the brand doesn't matter.:)

What we use for an office would have been a bedroom but the original owners set it up like an office. Since the furniture was built-in, they left it. Otherwise, would just use our oak desk.
