njc, thank you so much for pointing out the highlighted and capitalized words that have been popping up in my reviews. I thought this was a virus in my computer. I'm about to take it in to be scrubbed.  This annoying tooltip problem began two days ago.

I opened my issue of American Art Review today to see artwork by our old rlvs, former member of TNBW. The title is "Hands Up." See Astroismart.com.

Double clicking a word in an in-line review takes me right out of the posting. I have to swipe, not click. Very annoying.

I just left a long in-line review of Gerbeaud by Michelle8. When I completed it I was told I had earned 4.44 points, but when I looked at my points total the points hadn't been added, and the in-line review was gone. Then I noticed that Gerbeaud was now Part I and a Part II had appeared. Could it be that while I was doing my review, Michelle8 was revising the piece, and something went bump in the night, sending my review into limbo? I really could use those points, so when I have time, I'll do another review, and also do Part II.

If you don't have enough points to publish your next chapter, and if you've already reviewed all the work/the work you like of the authors you regularly reciprocate with, the points systems forces you to review anybody else's work, whether they reciprocate or not. If they don't reciprocate, you may never review their work again, but not necessarily. If you need points, you may continue reviewing only because you need the points, or because you've just  bumped into a story you like. You might have never started this sort of "fishing"--looking for random stories to review--if the point system do not exist (Why for? Unless you specifically want to look for something new. Without points you can publish, then review your friends' work, and sit until one of them reciprocates). Once again, the points system encourages reviewing.

Mariana, I agree with your point #3 wholeheartedly. I have delved into areas of writing I probably wouldn't have approached otherwise, just because I was desperate for points, and discovered some really innovative writing. At first when I joined this site, I was hesitant about my reviewing talent, but after perusing others' critiques, I learned how to approach a piece of writing. The points system has many advantages, as you so ably point out.

I still don't see a print function to enable printing of a story, poem or chapter.

Well, I'll just say "So long, Ron," not goodbye.  I have enjoyed your writing tremendously. Your words of wisdom in your farewell message are truthful and gratefully received -- exactly the advice I need at 81 and just beginning to send some things out. Flying? Really? Literally? Take care and do check in now and then. You are a true talent! Harriett/Wilma

I agree with you, Vern. The beauty of the in-line review is I don't have to copy and paste anything. Highlighting the words I want to comment is sometimes a problem, taking a couple of tries to get just what I want, but I attribute that to my computer, a little arthritis, and typing skills. For me, the in-line review is the single-most gift of this new TNBW. While I'm praising, I must say the regular review is greatly improved because the comment box is side-by-side with the text of what I'm reviewing. When I saw that I did a little geriatric dance of joy.

I thought it was for recommended writing, novels, short stories and poems posted on TNBW. But all I see are novels, many of them books on the market that have nothing to do with TNBW. So I don't us it shelfit.

What is going on with the previous three posts? Is it just me or are the garbled strung together phrases and symbols?

I just tried this successfully. Thank you. How interesting that I have been pressing ENTER for years to achieve a single-spaced line break in a document that is formatted as single-spaced.

Catalpa Tree is one example.  Sorry, I don't know how to provide a link other than the name of the piece.

When I edit an existing work that is single spaced, all of my edits are double spaced. I don't think this has been reported in a forum, so perhaps it should be added to your list. I have some poetry that has very unusual formatting and line breaks after I've edited them.

Jack, I received only one email notification for a review, the first and only on the new site. Was it a fluke? A test? Only Sol and his programmers can say.

And thank you, SOL, for email notification of reviews. I got the first one today.

Sol wrote: The easiest solution is to disconnect from the Free group. Then, you would not see the content that is posted to that group, including users who come on and post multiple poems or short stories.

I did what you suggest, disconnect from the Free group, and it solved the problem. This act removed any content I had posted to that group, but I'll just associate my work with the Premium group from now on.

This is not a bug, but it bugs me. I don't know how to open a new topic on this forum, so I'll just add my concern to "Site bugs." When someone posts a large number of new posts in one or two days (12 for example) the "New posts from your groups" listing is filled with that person's posts, and one must go forward quite a way to see additional posts to find something by another author. Does this bother anyone else? The posts remain at the top of the list until those of us who are less prolific post our work. Currently, this is in the Poems and Short Stories sections -- three on December 9, and nine on December 10. The only solution I see would be to impose a limit to the number of new posts in a day, but that seems overly controlling.

Sol, I have a nearly new laptop with latest MSWord. As I said, I can type at top speed everywhere else on my computer, except whtn leaving an in-line review. Weird, huh? If no one else is experiencing this, I'll just cope.

I'll reciprocate to anyone who is willing to read my work, whether or not points are involved, and hope those I review for no points will reciprocate in kind whether for points or not. On the other hand, I've noticed some (newbies maybe?) don't understand that reciprocity is just good manners. They post and post but never review.

j p lundstrom: When doing an in-line review, I sometimes have to click twice on the word I have just highlighted before the dialogue box appears. I thought this might be a problem with my computer, but perhaps not.
Sol: When I type a comment in the in-line review dialogue box after highlighting a word or phrase in the piece, the response to each keystroke is very slow. This doesn't happen anywhere else on the site.

This just happened to me. I went in to one of my pieces to look at an in-line review, and saw the whole thing was blank. I assumed it was a botched review abandoned by the reviewer, so left a message.

Tome, you will receive email notification to forum posts to which you subscribe.

I misspelled a word in a title and now can't change it. Is this just my computer acting up, as it has been lately, or are we not allowed to change a title?

Actually, the d uplicate shows only on the Statistics listing, not the Portfolio.

I had computer trouble during posting (locked up during setting posting options). When it came back up, I began again to set opeions, and finished posting. Now there are two listings on my portfolio. Title "Euclid and the Third-Born Child."
