Topic: Purpose of Book Shelf?

Sol or anyone, can you please tell us the purpose of the book shelf and how best to use it.

Thanks.
Dirk

Re: Purpose of Book Shelf?

Good question, Dirk. I wondered the same thing.

Re: Purpose of Book Shelf?

It seems to be there to clutter the home pages of other users.  Out of consideration, I won't use it, especially with the large cover display sizes.

Re: Purpose of Book Shelf?

I like it. I bookshelf the works of the authors I'm reading and it's easy to access them. Even if I miss when the author posted a new chapter, once or twice a week, or even everyday, I can browse my bookshelf and check whether new chapters have been published. Once I'm done with the book, I can always remove it from my bookshelf.

Re: Purpose of Book Shelf?

I thought it was for recommended writing, novels, short stories and poems posted on TNBW. But all I see are novels, many of them books on the market that have nothing to do with TNBW. So I don't us it shelfit.

Re: Purpose of Book Shelf?

I thought the Reading List was for keeping the things we're reviewing handy.  I have things on the Reading List, but, to tell you the truth, I don't use it very much.  I like going to the authors' home pages to find out what's new with them.  It doesn't take any longer than flipping to the List, then an author, then the List, then an author...  I never did figure out a use for the Book Shelf--I assumed works posted there were completed novels.  Don't know why.  JP

Re: Purpose of Book Shelf?

Here is Sol's answer. I've now done all three.

It's designed for three different things.
1. For work being posted on TheNextBigWriter, it's a vote of confidence in the work, like a Like. Except it puts it on your TNBW bookshelf so others can see what books on here you think merit being included on your shelf.
2. For books you have published it's a way to show them off on your page and promote them.
3. And for books that you have read and enjoyed, it's a way of showing other writers your tastes and what kind of reading you like to do.
