You can see the work immediately after you publish it, and there's an edit button that takes you back to edit it further if you need it. I guess if reviewers view the writing right after you publish it, this could be a problem. Is the current process that onerous?

I'll look into what we can do. The time a thread stays on the page is really controlled by the forum software but I'll see if there is any flexibility.

Topic: Exposure opportunity for published TheNextBigWriter authors (6 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Hi all,
Google has chosen TheNextBigWriter for a program in which they create a free video about the company for Youtube. As part of this video, I'd love to show off the physical books that have been workshopped on the site. Iif anyone is interested in getting their book into the video, let me know and I'll provide you with the address to send it to. The entire video will be short, around 1 minute, so it will be a brief glance, but hey, all exposure is good exposure.
I'll also take some shots of the books you send me and post them on Facebook and Twitter for additional exposure.

Topic: Bug posting to Premium Groups (1 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Hi everyone,
If you tried to post new content to a Premium group you may have received a message that you needed to upgrade your account. In most cases, this was an errror. We made a few tweaks to the membership system and caused this bug. It has been resolved. We apologize for any problems it may have caused. Let me know if you discover any other membership issues.

Re: Welcome (48 replies, posted in New Members)
Hi Keith,
Welcome to the site! I have some answers to your questions.
In terms of pen name versus real name, it's a mix. Some writers prefer the anonymity while others want to start to build their brand around their real name. I think it depends on whether you plan to publish with your real name or not. There is no rule or convention on the site.
Now, in terms of your story and getting feedback, you should post it to TheNextBigWriter Premium group. This is the largest group on the site. Doing so well also make your story pay points and most reviewers look for that. It shows you plan to not only get reviews but also give back. Premium is the best place for new members. Once you have built a solid review group, you can split off.
Your account comes with 7.5 points but that is probably not enough to post a 9,000 word story. I'd break it into two sections and post again to premium.
Let me know if you have any other questions or feel free to post them here.

Re: Scrivener (8 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
I type everything in WordPerfect X8 on a Windows 7 operating system. When it comes time to post, I open Word 07, cut 'n paste, then cut 'n paste from Word into the site here. This preserves all of my formatting, including hard returns and spaces and italics. The only thing I correct are centering the section break asterisks.
You could also try savings the document as an .rtf or .html from Wordperfect. You might not need to use Word at all.

Re: Scrivener (8 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
I'm still using Word for Windows 7. Since I switched from Explorer to Google Chrome, I've noticed that when I paste a document onto the site, I lose my paragraph separations and my italics. So I have to go through editing to correct the errors. Anyone know what the problem is and how I can avoid it?
Try saving it as an .rft file or an .html file and paste it. See if that works better. Let me know.

Re: New Contest (4 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Ahh so, Grasshopper, sounds like fun, but I don't see any "phrases" only "words" which must be incorporated.
You're right . It should really be the 2016 Word Writing Contest but that didn't sound very exciting. I guess you can combine them into a phrase. Maybe I'll allter the title.

Topic: Tracking Tool for Publishers (1 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
This is really more of an FYI for everyone here. We've just finished creating a tool for publishers that makes it much easier to track author ebook royalties from a variety of online booksellers, including Amazon, Smashwords, and Nook. If you are a publisher with an ebook business, or if you work with a publisher, then check out Collagio: https://www.collagio.me/. Instead of spending hours on these reports, it will take minutes.

Re: Site security (23 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
I think this may be because we moved servers last night. I suspect the new IP address is propagating and so some of the time you are getting the new server and it works fine, and some of the time you are getting the old server and getting an error. We'll look into it further but my hope is that the problem will be gone by tomorrow. It can take 48 hours for full propagation.

Topic: Member Advisory Board (1 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Hi site,
I've been meaning for some time to put together an advisory board consisting of members of the site. The group would meet periodically via Google Hangouts to discuss the direction of the site, how it can be improved, how it can better grow, new features, etc.
If this is something you are interested in, please email at snasisi (at) thenextbigwriter.com. I want to keep the group to around five people so if there are more respondents, we might do a rotating board.
I'd like to schedule a first meeting for sometime in early October. Remember, email me at snasisi (at) thenextbigwriter.com if you are interested.
Best,
Sol

Re: hey Sol, chapters skipped (2 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Not sure there is much we can do. The site displays the last chapter posted. Doing this reduces clutter and prevents one writer from flooding the lists, a problem we've had in the past. One solution is to not post more than one chapter per day.
