Topic: Changed my mind

Morning, everyone. I meant to post this much earlier. I've decided, for now, to put off my attempts to fix up and publish my novella, The Ancients. I've got a lot going on in my life, but my biggest issue(I'm sharing this because I know many of you and I know you can be trusted)is that of addictions. I'm in a 12-Step program, but it's obviously not a quick fix. I'm going to continue read-reviewing on this site along with creating poems and short stories. Doing these very things is therapeutic for me.

I know from a lot of experience that without longterm sobriety and recovery I'll continue to spin the proverbial wheels. I want, badly, to break free of my issues! Please keep me in your prayers and thoughts!

I commend you for prioritizing your health and recovery. Your novella will always be here for you (it may even grow through your experience). I appreciate you telling us--I've been checking in with The Ancients. It's an interesting premise, but I can wait to read it until it's the right time for it to be written. smile Good health and good prayers/thoughts to you.

I haven't read any of your stories for several years now. I vaguely recall reading some shortly after you joined (2011?).

Hang tough with your 12-Step program. And get back to writing as soon as you can.

If your program experience is anything like mine, you won't have enough time left in your life to write all the stories you'll want to write if you don't start writing right away. I started November 11,1982.

Mike, I’m brand new to the site, but I am taking the liberty to respond to your post because I spent 20 years working in addictions treatment.  I admire your honesty here and your involvement in a 12-Step program.  You are wise to remove from your plate any unnecessary stresses until you are feeling stronger in Recovery.   In the meantime, I hope you are gathering around yourself all the support you can find.  Remember, you deserve recovery and you are worthy of it.  Just keep on keeping on.

We've know each other (on line) a very long time. We've kind of casually discussed those issues. I wish you all the very best. You aree very supportive of the rest of us and I hope these few words, and a few reviews from me, help you to move along and become the best Mike you can be. You'll be in mine and Di's prayers.
