Major problem - In the old site, you could click on any of the posted chapters of a novel. Now you have to start at Chapter 1 and keep advancing until you get to the chapter you want.

The chapter header is a drop-down that will take you to any chapter. Also, on the Read listings you can pop the chapters open and navigate to any chapter. Does  this solve your problem?

Yes, I discovered that today. Thanks! Another thing I noticed: every time I change pages on the site, I get this security warning asking me to click yes or no re accepting only a page that is secure. Not only is that annoying, but what I get on the page depends on what I click; a "yes" lists my published books, but without covers; a "no" includes the covers. Is this just my browser doing this, or the site?

Re: Site Bugs

I have similar problems.  I'm guessing that something the ste is doing is earning the distrust of security plugins on the browser.

Re: Site Bugs

When I navigate  with the 'back' key using Chrome on the mobile site, I sometimes get Page Not Found.  A refresh gets the page.

Re: Site Bugs

I should have reported the fact that changing my pen name from "mabel" to "corra" means that when I write in the forums, the link in the forums to my pen name leads back to this thread now, rather than to my profile page -- which may be a glitch or may just be an issue with the site needing a few minutes to update. I'm repeating the issue here so you can have notifications about bugs in one place, Sol, if that's useful. Also, it gives me a chance to try a forum post again and see if it's updated. smile

Here's my profile.

Re: Site Bugs

Ah, it's fixed! There's one off the to-do list. smile

Re: Site Bugs

I don't see this mentioned, so I will throw it out. I just published a chapter. My credit bank on my home page does not reflect the cost of that publication. And when I post reviews and earn credits, I do not see a new tally, unless I log out and log back in. Will this be addressed? I'd like to see my total credits at a glance there on the home page.

This is a cache issue. We'll take a look and adjust.

Re: Site Bugs

I was wondering how this would work for our works in progress, that are currently in the "Classic" group. I take it that if we also want to post in another group, say "mystery" or "science fiction" we would have to use points to do so. I agree this is not ideal to get those of us from the old site to actually populate these new groups with content. I know I wouldn't do it until I have something completely new to add.
I think some sort of "grandfathering" is appropriate, but it may have to be longer than a week. Will all groups be formed in the next week?
This brings up another question: for new content, if we want to add to two groups we are a member of, I assume that will take double the points? If so, I may just stick with the "classic" group and use the other groups for the forums.

This is something we are debating. The idea behind the groups is that you need credits to post so that you contribute to the group. Otherwise, someone could earn credits in one group and dump content in another. We want to keep the groups vibrant and not just make them another place to place content. But I understand what everyone is saying. Let me think about it a bit more.

Re: Site Bugs

Is it possible to put 'Back to Top' links in a few more spots? I know you can use Ctrl-Home to flit around, but a link would also be helpful.

Re: Site Bugs

For a while today it seemed like the no-https problem was fixed, but it just happened to me again.

The orange-on-blue text is really hard to read wherever it occurs.   I haven't looked at the html/css but it appears that, at least on my devices, the two shades have about the same luminance ('value') even though they have different chrominances.

Yes, we're wrestling with some http(s) issues. Should have it ironed out soon.

Re: Site Bugs

Found an annoying little glitch in regards to reviews.
It took me a while to check through chapters of someones novel to remember where I left off in reviewing. Once I located it, the little check mark in the drop down lit up that chapter. But once I was done reviewing and hit submit, I was reverted back to chapter one. So was the check mark.

I was so happy to see the check mark thinking there was FINALLY a tool that would help us keep track of where we left off. Sadly, it was all for naught. Would you consider changing this?

Yes, we have some work to do around this. We'll make it easier to keep your place.

Re: Site Bugs

Easy peasy fix

On my home page, the drop down menu for my profile name "Erndog" opens behind the video window and obscures some of the menu choices.

Is there a video window on your homepage?

Re: Site Bugs

This is an old problem, not a new one.  Time stamps appear to be either in the originating user's time, or the site's time, not the time zone of the user reading them.  I haven't studied this part of web tech so I'm not sure where the solution would lie.

Re: Site Bugs

Hi Sol! I received an in-line review - at least I think I did, lol! -  on my Chapter Thirty-five yesterday, but when I try to see it, all I get is the chapter itself, no comments, remarks, nothing. Probably just me, lol. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Site Bugs

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but checking the public side of my profile I noticed that projects I've disabled are showing up on the list. I know they aren't available once clicked on, but shouldn't disabling hide them? I'd like to control what the general public can see in my portfolio.

Re: Site Bugs

Is all my stuff from the old site supposed to be here on the new site already? B/c nothing's here. And, it says I'm a new member as of November 2014. It could be because my penname on the old site was Jeanne M. Bannon and when I signed into the new one this morning I typed Jeanne Bannon as my penname, leaving out my initial. Any advice?

It looks like you created a new account instead of logging in with your old account. Do you remember your old email and password? Use that and you will access all of your old content. Once you do, you can close this account you just opened.

We can grandfather some content in. Maybe for the next week. If you want that, let me know which group you want that for.

You can also do the other alternative. The best way to publish select chapters to a different points group is to create another version of the manuscript and only publish those chapters to the points group you want. That way, you only have to pay for those chapters.

This, more than anything, is probably why I'll shy away from joining any groups that cost to post in. I created mine before I realized the implication. In my opinion, we should never pay more than once if we elect for something to show up in multiple places. And if we ARE going to be stuck with this--reviews should be rewarding us 20 times the points because only those with HUGE stockpiles of points will ever be able to use the system as is.

Re: Site Bugs

Not a bug exactly, but a feature oddity.

Why does an old-style review need a title?  It's not necessarily an essay or a thesis.  I don't mind being able to put a title on, but needing one seems, well, needless.

Re: Site Bugs

Ditto on the inlines.  Although for now I can only do them on my phone or tablet
