I’m a 57-year-old veteran, an aspiring writer, a gamer since PONG!, and obviously a lifelong KISS fan.
I do not outline—I improvise.
My mind is a whirlwind of wild ideas, shaped by years as a Dungeon Master/D&D player and a relentless “What if...?” mindset.
Whether it's little Sarah (5-years-old, blonde hair in pigtails, from my novel) or myths and legends from mythology, or from my real-life experiences, if it sounds off-the-wall, odds are it will end up on paper.
I love throwing things together and seeing how they work out.
As I said before, I don't outline, I improvise. What I start with is an idea and where I end up with it? Your guess is better than mine.
Sometimes my stories are funny, haunting, inspiring, and/or anywhere in between. It just happens and depends on what mood I'm in.
I hope that my stories do linger with readers. I hope they provoke feelings.
There also certain words that turn up in my stories/novels just because I like the way they sound. Like imperceptible, adjudicate, and whirlwind. Imperceptible is from the TV sitcom Dinosaurs, Earl got an imperceptible raise. Adjudicate is from the John Wick movies. Whirlwind is from Young Guns where Billy the Kid told Sheriff Brady to reap the whirlwind before he shot him.
So travel with thy quill and parchment in hand to a land where chaos is the only order.
I welcome feedback of ANY kind whether it's good, bad, indifferent, or telling me to give up my craft.
