Hey Jack,
Many congrats!
I've bought a Kindle copy as well and will commence reading later this week after I finish what I'm currently on.
Well done!
Randy

If you're using Word for creating your manuscript, there is a function under spelling and grammar to check readability levels.  It showed 4.7 on the Flesch-Kincaid grade leve for your chapter 5.  I also checked in autocrit.com with the following results:

New Dale Chall    4
Powers, Sumner, Kearl Write    4.8
Spache (Revised)    4.2
Coleman-Liau    6.9
Smog    8.3
Flesch-Kincaid    4.8
Automated Readability Index    4.5
Gunning Fog    6.4
Linsear Write    5.6

Per autocrit regarding the results:  Readability tests are a measure of the ease of comprehension of a written text. The results are obtained solely through the analysis of word and sentence characteristics of the subject text and do not have the benefit of an actual statistical survey of human readers. Typical characteristics used in the analysis include number of words, number of syllables per word, sentence length, and number of sentences. The test may also compare words found within the subject text to a list of "common" words.

Readability statistics can be a useful but blunt tool. The resulting scores provided are only as relevant as the data and statistics used as input. Many of the tests are not applicable to the genre and audience and the resulting scores/grade levels can be misleading.
That being said, when used in the right context, these analytic tools are a quick and efficient way to determine how well your audience will comprehend your work.

Hope this helps.

Hi C.J.,
Many thanks for posting this.  Was just in a conversation regarding the same problem and it appears that many people are confused (myself included).

I agree with Cobber.  I'm already reviewing both of them, and either would be a good addition.

I'm not updating any of my posted chapters at this time, which are all listed as v.1.  Once I've completed the first draft, I'll start editing from the beginning.  All revised chapters will have v.2 when they are newly posted.  If I begin updating chapters after that point, I'll use your suggestion.

LOL,

Thanks, Matthew:)  It's only when the gray matter wants to help out.  I'm open to any genre (except erotica).

Many thanks CJ. I'm looking at a total of 55 chapters for The Kurdish Connection, with 42 now posted. Hope to have another out this week and then I'll be reviewing again.

Hi CJ, etal,

No problem from my perspective. I've been a bit remiss as well.  My brain cells have been churning out ideas (sometimes full sentences) to continue The Kurdish Connection, so I've been busy writing.  I'm sure my gray matter will empty soon and I'll get back to reviewing everyone's work.  Regards to all.
