Sounds good to me, Jube. I've been the recipient of many of NJC's reviews and welcome him.

Will have to check into it. I know there's at least one other person from Michigan on TNBW, so there might be more.

Given our proximity to Canada, could form an Ontario/Michigan group.:)

Congrats--look forward to the release!

Next Monday, I'm having some minor outpatient surgery performed on my right wrist to correct a malfunctioning tendon duct that runs to my right thumb. The recovery time is around two weeks to become fully functional again. During that time, the doctor doesn't want me to do much typing and especially little or no mousing. But I can do both with my left hand, being mostly ambidextrous.

My apologies for not having responded to your posts.

Good luck with the surgery, Tom, and look forward to your speedy recovery and your return to the writing world.

Randall, your portfolio is visible.

Many thanks for checking, Norm.  Guess I don't need to worry about the erroneous statement.  Thanks again.

Don't understand why it says 'upgrade' on my portfolio to make it visible, as the only upgrade is to premium membership, which I have, and which doesn't expire until February of 2017.  I would like that fixed so people can see my portfolio.  Also, do you accept American Express.  Would prefer to use that for my auto-renewal.

Hi Sol,
Have the reference to needing to upgrade again despite my valid premium membership until June 2017. Would be interesting to find out if my portfoliio is visible despite this message.

I'm running late on this but congratulations Randy on the success of your short story. I like the fact they gave you the recognition, but would it kill them to have shelled out something to show your value? I mean they are probably paying the actor to read your story, but not paying the guy who wrote it? It boggles the mind.

Anyways, in the next few years, we expect to see one of your novels on the big screen smile

Hi Jube,

Since they're giving the winner free publicity with the YouTube reading and also being posted on their website (they have the monthly winners since August 2015 posted), they must figure that's enough. It's something Ill be able to reference where it will potentially help me.

That would certainly be a shock to have one of my novels make it to the big screen, but stranger things have happened. Many thanks for your kind words, Randy

I was not kidding when I said this guy was good. I'm glad that others agree with me! Move over Tom Clancy and Dan Brown! And Congrats Randy. You deserve it.

Many thanks, MzP, for the kind words!  And thanks to everyone else for their congrats!

BIG Texas congratulations, Randy!

Many thanks, Ann. It was a big surprise!  They sent me a list of questions to answer a couple of days ago, but it never dawned on me I had won. It wasn't until I received the notification today!

Outstanding, Randy. Quite an accomplishment for you.

Many thanks, Tom. And thanks again for reviewing the story before it was submitted.

Excellent work! It is not easy to limit the words down AND still keep a great story. You should be very proud of the story and the accomplishment!

It was an accomplishment and hoping this will help me with future editing efforts when I need to trim things down.  Many thanks!

Hi Cobber,
Many thanks. That's right, I read your comments this morning and they're greatly appreciated.
Regards, Randy

Many thanks, NJC. It was quite a challenge to maintain the integrity of the chapter while cutting it down so much. I figured it was good practice.

I'm please to announce that a short story I wrote, based on the first chapter of one of my ongoing novels, A Cartel's Revenge, has been selected as the winner of the August 2016 One-Page Short Story Contest held by the Wildsound Writing and Film Festival.  No money, but it's been read by an actor and posted on the internet. I used chapter one's title, A Dangerous Occupation as the title for the contest.
