Topic: Regional writers

I see a new group has been started - Texas Writers. Well, I'm not going to lie there and take it! How about starting a group of North Carolina writers? Or Vermont writers? Maybe Washington State, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey writers? (I qualify for all of them.) Shoot, we could get the whole dang country divided up into writing cliques on this site. Kinda reminds me of those caucus things they have in Congress. Anyone interested in joining a NCVWPN Writers group? Or should we divide that up into its constituent parts? I could be a moderator, or you could (preferably, since I already have a group - that's state-neutral.) We could get some competition goin'. Texas vs. all the other state groups. Like the Ryder Cup. Whoo-ee!

Re: Regional writers

I find Texas is often it's own entity in all things.   Even the company I work for publishes Texas specific editions of things...as things are always different in Texas. smile  And California.

I'm stuck in Kentucky myself.  As I do not care for Appalachian stories, mountain stories or related items...I usually steer clear of anything with the word Kentucky on it.

But I wish you luck.

Re: Regional writers

I think it's a great idea. Regional writers may actually get to meet each other in person. I'm in New England. Anyone game?

Re: Regional writers

Actually, I had my tongue in my cheek when posting that, but what the hey? Maybe Ann had a good idea going.

Re: Regional writers

Given our proximity to Canada, could form an Ontario/Michigan group.:)

Re: Regional writers

Put your money where your mouth is, Randy. Become the founder of the OM group, and I'll be the founder of the Tar Heel group. Hell, I don't know if there are any North Carolina writers in TNBW. But I'm pretty sure there aren't any Vermonters among us. (Prove me wrong, peeps!)

Re: Regional writers

Now I reckon I can tell ya'll there be more than one NC writer rootin' around these hollers. But this un ain't lookin' to join no more groups or startin' no more civilized wars or such. If ya wanna split folks up real good, jus invite the Donald to join a group. Take care. Vern

Re: Regional writers

I think the hollers are in West Virginey or Kaintuck, Vern, but I take your point. Segregating writers on the basis of geography, unless it's just for fun or kinship, doesn't sit right with me. Still like to get feedback on any Vermonters out there, though.

Re: Regional writers

Will have to check into it. I know there's at least one other person from Michigan on TNBW, so there might be more.

Edited to add omitted word.

Re: Regional writers

Truth be told, Vern, as someone who has seen "Deliverance" a number of times, I'd just as soon not be looking for them thar hollers.

Ahh, smart man, lol. Take care. Vern

Re: Regional writers

Speaking of regional writers- the Decatur book festival is happening this weekend in Decatur, GA. I wonder if any of my fellow posters on this sight may be attending or even presenting? I would love to meet some of you in person.
