I use TNBW as a reading and writing workshop - period. Even when I'm not actively writing / going through a dry spell, I still hone my skills by reading and reviewing/editing a broad range of writing types. I occasionally check out the forums, mostly because the "arguments" are often amusing and well-written. Barring overt hate speech -- which I haven't encountered -- I'm not sure why anyone would want to censor the forums or take anything too personally. As for newbies who are turned off by the forums, I'd suggest they spend more time cultivating relationships with some of the talented and exceptionally generous writers/reviewers on this site.

I fully agree with Graymartin. For me, TNBW is a great site for improving skills. I rarely read the forums or respond. In fact, when I began this thread, it was because I wondered about new members posting and then disappearing without acknowledgement of reviews. To me, it seemed a bit rude.

I've recently been politely informed within a review reply, that the author doesn’t need reviews. That is appreciated, but I’d rather know before I pen the review because I’m trying to make the review meaningful (in so much as I can).

I wonder what they felt they achieved by posting their work on a review site, if they didn't want it reviewed? Readers are appreciated for their views, but for a writer to post work they don't want to hear anything about? Why? To me, that seems rather odd.

Does seem very strange.

I've made my point before, but I'll reiterate here that "readers" are more important in reviewing our work than "writers" for the same purpose. I'll just close by saying that you can regulate the subject matter within these threads, but you can't regulate the difference of opinions which some seem to think is an albatross around our necks when in fact it is our strength. Take care. Vern

Well said, Vern. While I value the feedback from TNBW writers, ultimately it is readers who buy our work (or not). Having their input at the beginning is a great way to improve the process. At least, that's my opinion.:)

Many thanks, Norm!  Greatly appreciate your help.

Just wondering if there are any TNBWers who have self-published using Ingram Spark? I just learned about this platform (seems very competitive with CreateSpace), but need to spend more time reviewing. Thanks in advance.

Take it easy, Bill and hope you continue to improve.

The later chapters of Dangerous Alliance are still posted on TNBW as they have fewer reviews than the earlier ones. I'll be pulling all of the Dangerous Alliance chapters at the end of February.

In the meantime, there are three chapters post so far of Carnage in Singapore, the follow-on to Dangerous Alliance. I also have nine chapters of A Cartel's Revenge up for review and three chapters of New World Revolution. Have a go at whatever you like.

Posted an inline review of Suin's Being Fifteen, chapter 26.

Completed inline reviews of alkemi's The Souring Seas, chapter 26 and 27.

Completed inline review of Jube's 'The world of Phyries', chapter 29.

If there is something like what you've described, I haven't found it either. Would be a great thing to have.

Way to go, Jack!

Agree with Marilyn. Will be watching for your chapter one!

I just hope this is more of a one-off and not a sign of things to come with new members. I spend a lot of time on my reviews and would rather use it for those who plan to be regular TNBW members.

I actually enjoyed the chapter so my review wasn't harsh at all. Just seemed odd.

Has anyone else experienced this? Today, Paula June posted chapter one of The Crimson Killer on TNBW.  I left an honest review for her.

No thank you and she's now closed her account. I found her story is posted on Booksie. How strange!

Just posted one chapter of a book I'm working on called Non-Compliant.  Give it a read and I welcome any and all feedback.

Welcome to TNBW, Don. It's a great place to be. Just read your chapter and left a review. Regards, Randall

I'm on the computer every day as well, at least when there's inclement weather, but no more than four/five hours (two-three in the morning and two in the evening).

Thanks, Randy--What a thoughtful idea, to let us know what's coming up. I wonder if we could implement a site bulletin board, to let people know when a work is finished, and how much longer it will be around.  JP

That would be a good idea. Since I'm trying to review a number of works at the same time, knowing what is finished would really help me keep on track and complete my reading/reviewing of those which will disappear from TNBW.

Hello all. All chapters of Dangerous Alliance are now posted. I'll be pulling them from TNBW at the end of February. If anyone wants to read more, now's the time. Many thanks, Randy
