Oh, Janet, I received your Xmas Card. You gave me the gift of books…even better, I have a whole building of books to noodle through to find the PERFECT book. Thanks for making me say, "Awwww!" Enjoy your holidays, American style and make sure you let us know about your favorite experience (and first sledding trip:-)

Big pleasure and the least I could do! I hope there's some spare change for a book or two for C and S too?! But if you spend it all on yourself, that's also okay, I'll just send theirs separately next time! smile

LOL, you calling someone 'Mr Fussy Pants!' hahahaha pot, kettle, kettle, pot ... tongue

I'm going to check out the mar's penis now. I hope 'tis exactly as I imagined on the way to work one dark, cold morning ...

Haven't seen Star Wars (it's on the list though), don't like cats (dog person, sorry), and don't use the alphabet to name characters (wait ... that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean).

So I'm the only normal, average person around here or I'm special. yikes

Dammit Amy, you forgot all the important stuff in the intro! LOL Here we had a perfect opportumity to get some intel on K. Next time!

LOL, puddle! In any case, everyone has been going on about this 'Star Wars' movie, so much so that I started to think I might be missing out actually. Usually I can't care less. Stunted mental growth, huh. Better make a plan. I don't want to be known as 'that mother'. smile

Oh yes, forgot to thank Elisheva. I was starting to think I was going to get away ... I actually literally started to pick up all my badges again. So yeah, thanks! tongue

This is what I bring to this group - awesomeness. Yet, I've missed that little bit in your intro. *taps foot waiting for amy to reply*

RM, being part of basic also means you will not be able to view any in-line reviews. It's not the end of the world, but a lot of people prefer the in-line format. So if the reviews seem slow at first, it could be because of that - I know a few had expressed annoyance when they are not warned that someone is only part of basic, and only to realize that when they've spend a lot of time doing an in-line review that never gets replied to. So I'd suggest mentioning that you're Basic only and any reviews should be regular only until you let us know otherwise ...

I'm here.  Took me forever to figure out how to remove my Romance Inc group to come here.  I was bumped down to Basic *Boo* and can only have one group for now till I upgrade in the New Year.

The Romance group is sad to see you go sad but will still be there next year smile

*puts on medieval hat* There are a lot of overlap between the groups, a lot of Romance members lurk around here (K, Rebecca, me, etc.), but if I were limited to one group only, this will be it. The Romance group is relatively active to other groups, but no one beats this group. It's a team effort, but a lot of it is due to Mother Hen aka Amy. She's like glue, keeps everything together. And she is really good with helping others to come up with new ways to bleed their characters out too! Very helpful for medieval times when people got sliced and quartered and hanged and shot with arrows.

*puts on Romance hat* The issue though is not so much getting IN to the medieval group, it's getting OUT - Amy will never let you go. It's mostly a good thing. Mostly! wink

Also, I do Historical Romance with a capital R. It's proper Romance. Although everyone denies reading Romance, liking Romance, or wanting anything to do with Romance. They keep on insisting it's a 'mystery' with some romance (no capital R). *sigh* In all seriousness, they can call it what they want, as long as they keep on reading and reviewing NS! LOL I'm amazed at all the insightful comments and suggestions I have received from outside of the genre already. Tons of good stuff.

So yeah, Romance is my thing. That, and also conveying - with minimal use of exclamation marks might I add - what it feels like to be a 42-yr old kid seeing snow for the first time. tongue

ps - we're trying to get RM to join and stay? Just checking. wink But then again, this is probably better. Makes the decision an informed one at least!

But yeah, they have dog beds and plenty of blankets all over the place. When we leave home, they go with us and those times they don't, we leave them in the garage in a small doghouse that's enclosed with a mattress and blanket too - it's easy enough for them to heat it up fairly quickly even though the garage is cold. Have to say, it's also been a long time since they chewed a blanket ...

You'd be surprised how well dogs do in the snow, but you do have to watch them, especially the short-hair breeds, for hypothermia.

These two are Australian, born in Queensland (humid and hot) and grew up in Perth (just hot). Even inside with the central heating going they're cold. They don't look at me with the same loving gaze as always either ... yikes

They went through their first pair of dog jackets quickly - thought it was very funny to chew it to bits and pieces. And then they realized what it did ... So far, the second pair is doing nicely! smile

LOL, depends on how deep the snow is! I guess anything higher than 1 inch will be difficult/impossible.

You pay for them per meter (or yards), and not height. smile

Talking about big hills and small hills reminds me of sand-boarding back home. Only big ones unfortunately. It's fun going down, hurts going up though. Google Lancelin WA to see what the sand and dunes look like. It's an awesome day trip. But if you get it wrong, dinner lunch and breakfast are crunchy for the next couple of days as your body works out all the sand!

2) Pick a bunny hill for sledding if you want to stay out more than half an hour. Big descents are fun if it's a big hill, but the walk back up SUCKS. However, your kids willl be exhausted and sleep like rocks. Pick you poison.  Note that some sledding hills have a motorized circuit to hold onto and help you get to the top quicker.

My friend and I used to tie a rope between our dogs harnesses and the sleds. The dogs would climb onto the sled to go down the hill with us, and then they'd pull us (or at least the sleds) back up the hill. big_smile

I have to agree though, Janet. Snow is pretty awesome. smile It's too bad I live in rain-country now.

Just had the first snow for the year. Well, what I call snow. I don't even think it was half an inch and it's already starting to melt, but it was AWESOME. I was a kid again today. I've touched snow twice in my 42 year existence before today. But I have never ever ever seen snow falling from the skies. It was AWESOME. At first, I thought, nah, it's slush. But then it became real snowflakes. And then it started to cover the roofs, lawns, streets, and everything. Everything is covered in white right now. Just in time for Christmas too!!! I'm super excited.

I also ate snow. It tastes like cold water! tongue

We're still planning to go snow hunting a couple of times over the next 2 weeks over the school holidays. Proper snow, measured in feet, not inches. With sleds, we're going snow hunting and then we're going to have fun. With sleds. whooo-hoooo! And build a snowman. We have to, right?! *high 5*

Have I mentioned how AWESOME it was?!!!!!!! It was. I'm enjoying the feeling while it lasts. smile

Ha' ye been drinkin' a wee barrel o' mead, lass?
Enjoy.
