I'm not sure they'll ever get fully reconstructed.

I just tested the naked circuit board for the redesigned/rebuilt LDO 12v regulated supply.  It doesn't work.  I know where the wiring error is, but I'm not going to fool with it now.  (It looks like there may be two complementary errors.)

Time to wash up and get to writing.

After this I have a long list of partially finished electronics.  The first couple of items on the list aren't too big a deal, although they may take an hour or two.  After that I have a somewhat larger project, though it should be straightforward (crosses fingers).

I believe Sol deliberately ruled that out.

Quickies, which are public messages.

A mad science superwoman comes into her powers.  Hilarity ensues.

Under all ot that, it's an amazingly well-crafted story.  All the parts hang together, at every level.

I created it.  Two and a half days later it was not with any of my notes.

I lost a page of notes and spent about three hours more or less reconstructing it.  I got a lot, and a few things I missed last time, but I missed things this time too.   This is a list of disturbing things that Merran finds in her first few hours at the Academy.  I've got three sequences to write for all this, and yes, I'm skipping ahead because a bunch bof ideas came together.

I'll work again this evening.

He's not going to recover from a femoral artery opened with both entry and exit wounds.  He's liable to suffer a severe blood pressure drop and go faint.  And then loose consciousness, and then die.  (This is for her final attack on Peter.)

I took a jump ahead a bit to record something that's floating around in my head.  But found that I need to get a few inconsistencies out of the topography.  I'll be working on that tonight.

That's what I wrote!

The only cross-world trade is what sorcerers carry.  Well, not quite  but I haven't developed that yet.

The correspondence isn't exact, but a World-dependent mix from the twelfth century to maybe the fifteenth, with some things ahead or behind.  (Kirsey's math is pushing the nineteenth.)

In her state?  Even if she sets out to do that, I don't think she'll have time to orient.

Could just be local wierdness, until that part stabilizes.  Who knows, it might give the ship motion sickness.

Depends how strong it is.  (Remember, it will fall off as the square of the distance from the generator.)  Close up it might fry electronics; further out it may just scramble logic circuits, requiring a restart to clear.  If those logic circuits are controlling power switching equipment like motor controllers, something in those circuits might be fried when the control circuits space out.  Further out still, it's severe RF interference (QRM).

I mean not in the world (universe), and not just in that particular World.  None of these characters has even heard of such a thing, with the very slightly possible exception of Kirsey and Master Threckesrom.

Remember, in our world distilled spirits, even by your dates, did not become widespread untill the 1400's.

You can design the exploding shells to be mini-EMP generators, too.

It would appear that the software wants the portfolio to be set to full internet access, which allows people who haven't agreed to Terms of Service to see it.  Those Terms of Service protect your copyright on your work.

So give Maya reasons to lean one way, then the other.  When she makes her final decision, it should hurt.

And helpful.

On the subject of floating objects on the page: nearly all of them are for advertisers or for the convenience (profit) of the web page owner.  The only one I've seen that is of genuine help to the user is the column headers used by DigiKey.

Seems to work okay, but the saturated color is a bit distracting.

Floating overlays, even top bars, consume space on the screen.  On small (smartphone) screens, every bit of space is precious.

So you need a plot event or sequence that will change her mind and provide the character development.  It can start small, making the Empire a thing to avoid or push back against, and then get serious.  You probably have to start with something that she cares about.

You don't need nanoids.  All you need are bullets that are high-explosive, delayed-fuse shells.
