All of this conversation really boils down to the fact that a group on the new site really want the old forum structure back. Well, my suggestion is that this group should go back to the old site or wait until I bring the old forum to this site in some form. But for new groups, the new site does not, and will not use the same forum structure as the old one. I have specific reasons for doing so. One of them is that  the old site, as much as some people liked it, was not a success from a user standpoint. It catered to a very narrow audience of writers. This is not a recipe for success in any type of site. So, I am not going to return to something that didn't work.

We can and will improve the forums. We can add search features and other items to make using the forums easier and this we will do.

We have a lot planned for 2015 and look forward to moving forward, not back.

Thanks for these tips. With your permission I may incorporate them into the book. Feel free to leave some of them directly in the book. One new aspect of the site is that we don't need to keep conversations in the forums. Content on the site supports conversations as members can leave multiple reviews and comments on the same piece of content.

There will be a link to a page that looks like this that will contain all of the forums from the old site:

But this is just for the forums from the old site. We can't do this for all of the forums on the new site from each of the groups. It's technically impossible  since we will have hundreds if not thousands of groups in the future, some of which have selected to be private or even invisible.

I'm a bit confused over what is stopping people. The site is here to post, the forums are open and you can start a conversation at any time. I think the quiet you are experiencing is more because of the holiday season than anything that has to do with forum design. In fact on the old site, it would often go for long periods of time without much forum posting.

In fact, I'd love to turn the conversation to more writing related matters and will post a starter topic now.

I see what you are saying. There seems to be a bug in the reordering system when there are multiple versions of a chapter. We'll take a look and get it fixed.

This should never have happened. The formula is the same regardless of number of words. It does vary depending on the type of ccontent - poems, short stories, novels, etc.

This really isn't that hard. Here's the step-by-step for creating a new chapter version.

1. Go to Your Porftolio.
2. Click the title you want to add a new version to.
3. Go to the Content sub-tab.
4. Click the add chapter button
5. Fill in this chapter and increment the version to whatever number you want.
6. Click Save and Publish
7. Go to the Publish page and publish the new chapter.
8. Done.

At that point, you can keep the old version active, or not. You do not change the version number on the old version, this will overwrite the old version. Instead, you have the option of creating an entirely new version and keeping it within the book. There is no need to create a new book, etc. This will bring it to the top of the list and it will also preserve the old version should you want to refer to it, etc. This is a true version system. The old republish system was not a version system at all.

I think one is the actual closing remark and the other is a text box where you can edit the closing remark. Is that too confusing? Do you want the ability to add a closing remark after you have submitted it?
