When giving an in-line review, I highlight text, release the mouse, and almost always start to type. The GOTCHA is that the focus is NOT in the text box for the review - it is still 'out there, somewhere" on the web page and my browser receives the entered keys. Sometimes it just ignores them, but sometimes it can really mess up a web page or even take me completely OFF the site entirely.
Would it be possible to have the focus shift to the box opened for text?

Yes, we will look to add this to the new version of in-line reviews we are working on.

Sol,
That screenshot I sent you has a comment on it about a dedicated "annotate" button.  This would solve the problem mentioned here, as well as make it easier for iPad users to initiate an inline comment, as "where to press the screen" to get the inline box to come up is not intuitive.

Re: Site Bugs 2

Somewhere in the last day or sl the forums have become all but unusable on my Android.  The page is wider than my display, which is fine, but I cannot shift it right or shrink it--and that is not fine.

Curiously, it allows the shrink when entering text.

The browser is Chrome.

This 'cannot shift or shrink' takes away the ability of the user to adapt to unforseen circumstances.  Can we please make the site usable on the Android again?

Re: Site Bugs 2

Addendum: I am using the non-Chrome browser on the Android, and the behavior is worse.  I cannot shrink the page when entering this text (and I was unable to reach the 'edit' button to add to the previous posting).

This reminds me of the original outer limits:  Do not attempt to adjust your television.  We are in control.

Okay!  It's working again.  Thank you.

Okay!  It's working again.  Thank you.

Noticed the problem the same time you did. It's fixed.

Re: Site Bugs 2

I was trying to use my android phone with the default browser to respond to someone else's entry on the Wish List thread. I was able to read their part of the thread, but when I was typing my reply in the Write Message box at the bottom of the screen, after a few paragraphs, the view kept jumping up to display what I was responding to, rather than where I had been typing. I had to abandon the reply. This may be because my reply was too long for the android screen and things got confused. That's just a guess though.

Re: Site Bugs 2

Sol.  Something changed a couple of days ago. Now, when I begin an in-line review I cannot change the font size. The mouse turns into a 'hand', but nothing happens when I click it.  I can change backgrounds and reverse the text, but sizing the font is unavailable.

Hmm. Not sure. I'll try testing it a bit. We did have an android problem with the forums earlier today. Try it now and see if it's better. Let me know.
Thanks,

Re: Site Bugs 2

Is there a way to send all of your connections the same message at the same time? Am I not seeing it? And if there isn't a way is that something we can look at?

Not currently but I do know it's a feature that has been worked on. I'll have to check and see where it stands.

Are you able to resize any in-line reviews? I've noticed that some content, depending  on how it is posted, does not resize well.

Re: Site Bugs 2

I am not sure when this started, but I think that a while back I could resize text on an in-line review.  Now, I can't.

Before I click the 'leave inline review' button the resizing works, afterwards - no.

Re: Site Bugs 2

When I click on Find More Books from the home page, it takes me to the My Groups Content page where I see all available books. There are Summary and Chapters buttons for each book that expand to show the book content summary and chapter listing, respectively.

I noticed that the Summary button only shows the first four lines of my summary, then trails off with .... The chapter listing works as expected, showing as many chapters as exist in the book. People who keep their summaries short won't be affected but, as I'm sure you know, I'm rather long-winded and can't squeeze everything into four lines.

Thanks.

Re: Site Bugs 2

When you highlight a passage and make a comment, then decide later you want to delete the comment, you can delete the text of the comment, but the highlight remains.  This shouldn't be.  In addition to being a visual glitch, if you decide you want to then highlight another section that includes the deleted section, you can't, because you can't select text already highlighted.  When you delete a comment, the highlighting should go and it should be fully deleted.

Yes, that's an annoyance, and it would be nice if the highlighted areas would also be deleted along with the unwanted comment, but no biggie. It just requires an additional comment to explain such to the author.

Definitely agree.

That's not the primary problem.  If I highlight three words, make a comment, then delete it, then decide I want to make a comment that requires highlighting the sentence, I can't, because you can't double highlight something.  Yeah, you can work around it, but it's a glitch and it's been around for a long time, it's illogical, it shouldn't be difficult to fix—and it should be fixed, not worked around.  I run into this several times in each in line review.

Here is some more info, Sol.  I've run across several postings now that will simply increase the line spacing when I click the three size buttons, but not change the actual font size. A posting right now exhibiting that anomaly is In Search of Grace.

I've cleared a couple of cookies and reloaded the page, but that didn't help. Could it have something to do with the underlying font itself?

Hope I don't have the font size issue. I'm blind.

You're fine, Janet. I really like purple text on an orange background. The font sizes nicely, though.

Re: Site Bugs 2

In the posting view for my own book, when I click on the chapter pick list, some of the chapters are highlighted with the word "regular". Not all of my chapters have this (even though most have regular reviews), and none have the word "inline" next to them. It's no big deal, since I primarily use the pick list to navigate other people's chapters, not so much my own.

As long as it's not corrupting anything...

SolN--
Remember when Jack the Knife couldn't access all the names on his connection message menu? I have 34 connections and only 32 names show up on that menu. Of course the two I can't access are the two I want to leave a message for.

Re: Site Bugs 2

Hi, Sol--I have a message that won't go away.  I reviewed a work, and the work was taken down before I got to read the author's response.  So the link to the reply goes nowhere, except to tell me the work has been removed.  But I still have that red button on my home page telling me I have a review reply, and I can't find a way to get rid of it.  Is it something I can handle?  If so, how?  Thanks.  JP

Re: Site Bugs 2

dagnee, if you click on the list of names, there is a text field at the top of the list where you can type in the names of the people you are trying to message. It automatically filters the list even as you begin to type the names.

Re: Site Bugs 2

I just did a regular review of a chapter. When I clicked the 'Post Review' button, I waited, and waited, and waited, while my browser said "waiting for thenextbigwriter.com". Suddenly the screen cleared and I got an error' message of "An error occurred - Application Error".  The chapter was for 0.49 points, but when I went back to re-do the review, I was told that I wouldn't get any points because I'd already reviewed the chapter.

I didn't get the points, either.

Re: Site Bugs 2

Something is happening here.  I sent a message yesterday that went through eighteen times.  Then the site went completely unresponsive.  I had to leave the site, and come back again to do any work.
