Topic: New Contest?
It feels a little subdued, without a competition running in the background.
Is there going to be a new one soon?
Cheers!

I suggest Charles Bell's Literary Fiction Group as a launch point for new contest.
Yes, as soon as we close out the Strongest Start.
Good news. Thanks Sol.
Apologies for my impatience .
O My, T. A. I'm going to have nightmares after that haiku and image!

A Literary Fiction competition is exclusive and would exclude 95% of us mortal authors whilst causing an explosion of thesaurus substituted semi-appropriate words.
Then of course, would ensue the perpetual discourse upon what actually constitutes/qualifies 'Literary Fiction'.
A cracking story entry could fail to meet the the 'Literary Fiction Genre' criteria (whatever that definitively is?), whilst a mundane effort could be more (or technically) in line with 'Literary Fiction' style and take the biscuit.
I'd like to see a more open contest with a competition that doesn’t restrict genres and formats. If the objective were to coin a 'subject' then all 'styles' of creative writing (short stories, poems etc.) would be admissible.
Why not just write something (short story, poem, essay, novel chapter, whatever) for that all/multi inclusive "other" category and let the best words win? Take care. Vern
Why not push the minimalist edge and ask for clerihews?
Why not. If clerihews it is, you could enter most of what you write in the forums.
