Epimythium
“I think that life went rather well.”
“Another harsh ending.”
“They’re all harsh. It’s part of life.”
“So this soul has been in a female body as Yin Su and a male body as Marus.”
“Yes, gaining experiences of both.”
“But Marus didn’t remember anything about Yin Su.”
“Not directly. They both had skills with plants, cooking and healing.”
“Lots of people cook. Many know the healing plants.”
“Don’t forget the disabled finger and small birthmark on the head where Yin Su was killed.”
“So physical stuff carries over?”
“Oh yes. Sometimes, at least. Not always.”
“Does everyone carry physical characteristics?”
“Unfortunately, no. It happens when a soul has a strong desire for something. The desire binds the soul components together so that the next incarnation carries many of the same characteristics. Once it manifests, it happens on a cellular level.”
“Cellular? So if the desire is not strong enough, then what happens?”
“The cells disburse and go into a sort of cosmic stew and a new individual is formed. This also happens if a soul does not fit harmoniously with others. Souls who do harm to others usually don’t incarnate again with the same characteristics.”
“What happens to them?”
“The cosmic soup mixes the tiny fragments in with others who don’t have strong cohesion. They will incarnate again giving all the cells the opportunity to learn.”
“So harmfulness is diluted?”
“Yes. As an entirely new soul.”
“But some incarnations do remember their previous lives.”
“True. That only happens when the desire is quite strong.”
“Revenge is a strong emotion. Marus got his revenge, so there was no strong desire.”
“He didn’t act on revenge when he finally had the chance.”
“He understood something more important that has even stronger cohesion effect.”
“What is that?”
“Love.”
“Love? That’s all?”
“That is no small thing. One who truly loves cannot do harm.”
“Everyone loves something.”
“Don’t confuse love with desire or lust. Or casual things. The word is used too often in some languages. The love that makes one sacrifice self for another is the love that binds.”
“Marus didn’t do that.”
“Not this time, but he realized what it was and that’s progress.”
“I see. So Yin Su/Marus will incarnate again.”
“Oh yes. But rest is needed. Some time must pass before the situation is ready.”
“Isn’t everything happening at once?”
“Yes, but that is not the perception for the incarnated.”
“So where and when will this soul incarnate again?”
“The physical incarnations on earth are experimenting with so many ways to live. There comes a time when all cultures are at war. Then there is a brief time of peace. This soul will be reborn in that time. In a place where the government is promoting peace for all.”
“The soul will be female again, on a farm, so plenty of opportunity to continue learning about the plants that support the animal creations.”
“Where?”
“A place called Kentucky.”

AH? You like it? It wasn't too weird?
I've been experimenting with how I can link the stories together. There are four stories and this is the second.
I'll be reposting the Gatekeeper's Wife in totality. That's the first story.
thanks so much for reading and commenting!
:)
Hi,
This was a really interesting read. I found myself lost in the language while analyzing it at the same time (if that makes sense). Although it had complex content, it was written clearly. There were a few lines that made me smile. For example, the sentences about the souls who do harm and about love. I also enjoyed the ending sentence.
Best Wishes!

PH,
Thank you for reading and posting your thoughts. Your reaction was what I was going for.
But I am curious - Did you read the Marus story (first 23 chapters) or just this epimythium?
This chapter is designed to be the link to the next story which takes place in Kentucky. Did that come across?
