The path to the heart
The path —
— to heartbreak
— through heartbreak
— past heartbreak
Ice, fire, and everything in between...
That’s where you’ll find me... where Fire and Water meet
------------------------
Raging waters and raging fires... what really is the difference?
You think you’ve cupped water, found a new flame;
Only to find it slip through your fingers... and be burned by a heart-shaped, cast-iron branding —
When cupid’s arrows become stupid flaming arrows...
It’s torture.
The path to and through heartbreak is that —
Shattered yet again to different shards and shades of bargaining, acceptance, depression, denial, and anger...
So yes, equal parts raging water, raging fire, and ice-cold hearts to numb the aging agony — really, they’re all warring for more than their fair share; and in the process, they consequently tear me from the inside-out.
The internal turmoil — I’m tearing myself apart.
I’m tearing myself apart...
So tell me,
Where’s the way out?
Perhaps my fall from grace can end in glory... and I hope that’s not just another false hope.
I’m bleeding... that’s the path through heartbreak — you bleed
And you bleed in realtime... almost as though in humiliating display for the onlooking town-folk.
Cruel.
Just plain cruel.
And what’s my consolation prize?
Then life spats at me and says, “Who you think you are? You’re just another monkey in this circus you entertain yourself in... punk-ass dweeb”
And it reads once again as... “you’re just a speck in the universe”
And I guess, somehow, that puts it all into perspective - haha

The water and fire of heartbreak. I liked when you thought you’d cupped water only to have it slip through your fingers. And the ice-cold numbing. The burning flames. The perdition of going through each stage. Very nice . . . shards and shades of bargaining. You really showed the tumultuous nature of being . . . Tear me from the inside out. The bleeding and humiliation—a good touch of the cruel onlooking town-folk. The repetition of the sounds . . . Just a speck of. . . and . . . perspective. . . is effective.
The Path to the Heart is a strong statement of the raging torment of heartbreak, sure to stir memories in readers of the times they went through similar times. Well done!
You nailed it with this emotional, moving cathartic piece. You captured the raw feelings with bold imagery, and heartfelt calls to the universe for an explanation. Anyone who has felt love's overwhelming intoxication, and then the horrible symptoms of withdrawal when love turns it's gaze away, has been exactly where you are in this poem...
"The internal turmoil — I’m tearing myself apart.
I’m tearing myself apart..."
Nice!

Omg omg omg! I loved the first few lines so much post more poems like this I am your fan now and regular reader. Btw, i can also take inspiration from your writing! I am an author too. Just that, a new one. Hehehe. Btw, how long have you been a author? I am curious.
This is a powerful piece of work and written from experience. I was totally imersed in it and I don't normally read poetry but this has a great pull and on the head descriptions. Anyone who has experienced grief and relate to. Well done, great work and a powerful piece of writing.
hi friend nice writing. This is a raw, visceral exploration of emotional turbulence that refuses to hide behind flowery metaphors. Instead, it leans into the jagged edges of grief, using a "stream-of-consciousness" style that feels less like a polished recital and more like a real-time exorcism of pain.
I enjoyed reading this well done stuart
