Topic: Who to review?

Hey guys!

I'm posting my contemporary romance novel here. Right now it's called Aidon Ice...probably going to change that.

Anyway, as most of my network is mired in scifi or fantasy, and I've been out for a long while, I'd like to gain some romance focused folks. IE...I'm not getting return critiques. LOL! Who has a romance novel they would like me to look at? I'm there!

Re: Who to review?

Hello, Bimmy! I had a look at chapter one. I think you're onto a fun story! My current WIP is a paranormal; not sure if that's what you're looking for, so if you're not inclined to reciprocate at the moment (because you're looking for romances without fantasy elements), don't worry about it. Good luck with the new novel!

Re: Who to review?

Hey Karin,

I'll read anything!  I just don't want people who don't enjoy non fantasy romance to feel obligated. Nothing worse than having to read something you hate. Trust me....I judged a romance novel competition this summer. The only rule being you have to finish the whOle thing. Lol! I'll take a look at yours too!

Thanks!

Hey Bimmy

I'm still around! LOL But I'm maxed out at the moment, with life and work I'm not even getting to the reviews I owe never mind taking on new work. BUT ..... I know that you've done a heap of very helpful reviews on my first draft, so I do owe you. All I can promise is to put you on the list, because I agree, apart from enjoying what you're reading/reviewing, it's also helpful to have eyes go over your writing that knows the genre. Not saying I'm an expert, but I've been reading Romance novels most of my life, so I have a few decades worth of material to go by and it should help. So yeah, practice patience while I work through the long list of reviews I owe, but I'll really try to get to you as soon as possible.

And welcome back! You've been missed!

Hey Girl!

I saw you post the other day how busy you were so I didn't even go back to your story thinking you wouldn't even see it. When you're ready I'd love to look at it again!

Re: Who to review?

Bimmy! I'm still here too. You know nothing I have is straight romance, but everything has some romance woven in. Take your pick. Headcount would be a good starting place. I'll add you to my exhaustive list.

Re: Who to review?

Thanks Janet! If you don't mind straight romance we can reciprocate! I don't want to be a burden though if you're overextended.

Re: Who to review?

I always reciprocate even if it does sometimes take a while

I only have one work posted at the moment. It still needs a lot of work, but I'm hoping I'm getting there. I'm not planning to post it here for a second round of reviews, so all up to you if you want to jump in again. Well, that way at least you'll find out who's been the bad guy! smile

Things are getting better with spurts of activity that doesn't allow me much time for reviewing or writing, but I've been writing again lately - I just want this draft done already! and should get back into catching up with reviews. One day, I'll be all up to date!!!

Me too, Suin. I have your newest on my list. I'm overjoyed to be getting books into print and for sale, but it's time consuming, and then the marketing is trying!

LOL! I think this is how my review is going to go:

Stares at cover.
Reads a paragraph.
Checks if cover is still okay.
Re-read paragraph.
Make 100% sure cover hasn't changed.
Re-read same paragraph.
Stares some more at cover.
Leave a comment: "Sheer brilliance Bimmy!"

I know!! I have you on my to-do list too but you've pushed out so many lately I wouldn't even know where to start! Don't know how you manage it all! Best of luck with the publishing!

Re: Who to review?

Hi! So nice to see other romance writers here!

I have the first chapter of my paranormal romance book "Blush" up atm. I'm freaking out about my second chapter a little because I feel shy, there is a bit of sex in it (so early I know). I'm not even sure I'll be able to post it, I got so much great feedback on my first chapter and I bet I made so many similar errors to the second, so might edit some more...

But over all I worry about showing it to the sharp eyes of great writers and editors. Ugh not sure I'm ready to do this. Yet I should, right? So that I can grow as a writer.

Am I in the wrong place looking for feedback, because of my sex scenes, or am I just being a big coward about it all? Do you guys ever get shy too?
