Well, I don't copy them all. Just the ones I think will be useful. But, you're right, it is a bit of work that hitting a "Print Comment" button would solve.

One workaround I use, Corra, is to highlight what you want to retain, copy it, and paste it into a 'working' text file on my desktop. When I have all I want to retain, I print the text file. At the same time I copy the reviewer's entry, I make a reply comment to show I've seen it. If the text file is full of really good ideas, I save it to the directory where I've stored the copy of the chapter/story so I can work on it off-line.

As this thread is 'wishlist', another wish from me:
I absolutely love being able to increase the font size and contrast of a story. My old and tired eyes thank you for it, but (there's always a but, isn't there), When I go down to view or add a review, the font is so very tiny. I can (and do) increase the entire page using Crtl-plus (or Ctrl and mouse wheel), and this works well, but it also increases the ENTIRE page and doesn't change the contrast. I found a script that removes all color information from a web page and that helps, because test in a blue only slightly darker than background is really a strain for me.

My question also, Sol. Money is tight when you're on a fixed income that doesn't go up with the cost of living - at the moment, my retirement pay is around 1997 levels or so. It goes up a quarter percent in June though, so I should be flush with money then. LOL

Sol:
20 years as an enlisted Navy man starting from 1961 and retiring in 1980. Had 5 tours in Vietnam. What can I help with?
~Tom
How about only connecting with those you review?
I thought about that also, but you cannot send a PM to someone you aren't connected to. All of my connections were made so I could get notifications, but I can see that anyone might want to send a PM without having to do a review first.
~Tom
I've had the thought several times that perhaps the blanket email notifications should be cut off. What could replace them would be a checkbox on each of your connections that was labeled: "Allow email notifications from this connection". If you read a posting from someone who isn't on your connections and didn't particularly like the posting, but wanted to see more, then connect but don't check the box. However, if you did like it, then make the connection and add the tick in the box.
~Tom
I've had that happen to me also. I think it has something to do with the timing of the email you get and the actual posting of the comment in question in the thread. I tried again about five minutes later and was allowed access.
~Tom
I've just read it also, Tonya. Fantastic piece of work.
~Tom
Hi, Gacela.
Tonya noted that she had nothing posted because she needed points. Once she does a couple of revies, I bet we see a post or two.
~Tom
Welcome to TNBW, Tonya.
Loads of very good authors on this site. Just jump in and read a few chapters that interest you. I started on short stories by reading what others said in their reviews as guidance. Once you get a few reviews done, it'll come much easier.
~Tom
I just did a regular review of your latest, Janet, and I got the points added. Must be some sort of floating glitch.
~Tom
Sol:
How much longer will the free group be present? I also have a novel that is nearing completion (6 more chapters), and I have absolutely no chance to amass enough points to start posting it in a point group. i suppose I could tack on a parenthetic suffix to the title, but with only 6 more chapters to go, that's kind of pointless (no pun intended) in a 44-chapter novel.
~Tom
No worries. Just charge ahead and do it. We don't bite - much.
~Tom
A very good evening to you, JD. Just jump right in and have a ball.
I'll take a look at your first chapter.
~Tom
The worst offender of all the keystrokes I hit while "out of the box" is the Backspace key. That one will cause my browser (Pale Moon) to go 'back a page', which can sometimes be disastrous.
~Tom
Good evening, Sol:
When giving an in-line review, I highlight text, release the mouse, and almost always start to type. The GOTCHA is that the focus is NOT in the text box for the review - it is still 'out there, somewhere" on the web page and my browser receives the entered keys. Sometimes it just ignores them, but sometimes it can really mess up a web page or even take me completely OFF the site entirely.
Would it be possible to have the focus shift to the box opened for text?
~Tom
I would be very happy to have the link take me to the first post I have NOT read. If others have posted beyond that unread post, then still take me to the first unread post - be it on the bottom of the page or not.
~Tom
Hadn't though of that angle, Dirk. And, you're right. The only way around that email problem would be to suppress the notification that "someone" has posted a new thread in "xxxxx" group, and that wouldn't be a good idea. I guess the most painless method would be to just let authors create a thread if they want to ask for input. And that has been available to us all along.
~Tom
You are understanding me, actually. But I could modify that and allow the user to decide whether a work merited a new forum thread or not.
Now, that's a good idea. Just a check box marked "Create forum thread(s)" would be all it takes (except for the coding to actually DO it, that is). It could even be an option exercised post-facto - that is, several chapters down the line a author might want to create the thread.
~Tom
Title + (revised) is the option I'm going to take when I do mine.
My 0.02 worth.
~Tom
... No one except you sees which of their reviews you've "applied" or not.
Dirk
Ah, that is something I wanted to hear. My fears that at some later date, someone will go through their reviews of my work and see if I've applied any of their suggestions. But, like JP says, I don't plan on doing that because they are just suggestions.
~Tom
That certainly is a load off my mind. I didn't want anyone to think I wasn't using the great suggestions that I've been receiving.
I tend to write in bursts of up to 5 or 6 chapters at one stand. I'm retired, so I haven't any restraints on my hours. I also hate to get into the cycle of posting something, fixing it, and then posting again. Like most others, I run the whole thing through until the end. Then I go back and institute the changes I've been taking note of throughout. Even if I don't hit the button.
~Tom
As I was looking over all the reviews I've received, I noticed that only one or two of them had the green "Applied" button showing. This is definitely not true. I've used input from almost every review to alter or enhance my chapters, I just keep forgetting to click the button to show that I've used the suggestions to good advantage. Please don't think that I don't care about input. I do.
I will try my best to remember to do so in the future.
~Tom
Sorry. History, files, and defrag are good things to do (although defragging is really unnecessary from Windows 7 upward). It does nothing towards removing faulty or badly formed cookies. They have to be removed one at a time unless you have Firefox set to remove all cookies when it closes. THis is different than having it clear history.
Looks like Dags has your solution. I use the "paste from Word" function all the time.
