I still enjoy reading. I am constantly nosed into a book. I selectively pick them, mostly by the jacket blurb, but favorite authors comes into play too. I rarely toss a book, though, for any reason. Maybe it's because I'm chintzy. I have noticed, however, that I now read with an editor's eye and can see some glaring mistakes at times. I owe this entirely to having joined this site. I don't like electronic books, mainly because of my eyes.

Good question, Elisheva. Most of the time I write serially, sticking to my plot timeline in chronological order. But, if I get a great idea for a scene, I'll jump ahead and write it, even if just a rough outline. My OCD doesn't kick up because I rationalize it by saying "well, it just an outline". I will NOT put in in a designated chapter, but just label the file with "fight scene" or "Landslide" or whatever.

I use 2 "T"s. I think of it as a contraction of "out-tuv". I have seen it either way, however. It probably has to do with regional dialects.

While we are on the subject of comment boxes: why is it that when I put my longer comments into paragraphs they will be mashed together when saved and re-opened? I put comments into paragraphs for a reason, not to have the all run together. We have 1000 words in those boxes so why not let us use them properly?

Did I miss this small gripe before? When we go from our home page to any of the queued reviews except In-line Posted, the buttons at the top of the review take us directly back to the queued reviews. There are no buttons on top of an In-Line Posted review and you have to back to your home page and start again to see the next one.

I do a lot of reading. Lately, I've found myself doing mental reviews of my favorite authors. I keep motivated by jotting down plot details as I think of them in a notepad I keep in my back pocket. Then I transfer them to an outline. If I'm stuck, I turn to drawing as a way to relax. Or, I fire up my gaming computer and run my train simulator until the mood strikes me again. I've even used the simulator to depict certain scenes for my books.
Since I am fully retired, I have quite a bit of time to do this, but now my eyes are not cooperating, so I've had to back off both reading and writing.
Since I joined this web site, I feel that the quality of my writing has taken a quantum leap forward. Reviews received point the way and I add/delete as needed.
I'm highly motivated, but hampered at the moment by physical details.

You can cheat just a little, Janet, if you go to your "Publish Setup" and, without changing anything, hit the save setup button. That will make your story appear almost immediately. I just publish and wait for it to appear when it does.

I think you mean "elicit an emotional response", although an illicit one would be interesting also. As I've gotten older, my illicit resonses have diminished quite a bit.

Being able to print out an inline review is wonderful, but I have a question:
On the web page that results when you click the little printer icon, the referred to text is reverse video (white on black). But, when printed on my laser printer, the highlighting is gone. There is nothing to tell me what the comment refers to. A normal inline review box will not only supply the blue highlight, but the top of the drop-down box contains what the reviewer highlighted in italics. Neither that, nor the while on black highlighting is retained on the printed page. Can this be fixed?

Did it to me again, Sol. Only this time, I got finessed out of getting any points because I backed out of an in-line review by clicking the "Return to posting" button at the bottom. I think this should be turned into an "Escape" button - one that simply cancels your intention to submit an in-line review. You already have the "Save it" and the "Submit it" buttons, so why does this extra button also submit it?
I will go ahead and submit a normal review anyway because I have lots of points, but it is wrong not to have gotten them.
EDIT: Now, this is strange. After being told I would not get any points because I'd already reviewed this chapter, I closed the entire tab, went back to the notification email, and clicked the link again. This time, it said at the top "No review from you" and I was able to submit a normal review. Something doesn't jibe here.

How does one go about deleting a draft inline review that is no longer needed? I started one, couldn't find 5 things to report, and just backed off the page. I thought that would suffice, but now I am nagged by the notation "Draft inline review" and can't get rid of it.

Well, if legitimate, then they show a funny way of showing it. Offering no way to create a username/password is a bad beginning, Sol.
The EMAIL may be legit, but I think the OFFER has lots of hooks in it.

I found no method whatsoever to create a username/password. This is what I see on the page:

I just got an email concerning a giveaway of stuff from something called Graphic Stock.
Following the link give nothing but a login screen asking for a username and password. There is NO method I can discover for actually creating such a thing on that site.
Is this legitimate?

you bet, Mike. I particularly liked the segments when Chance was being transferred between ground and air transportation. Delta Airlines has a special crew at Hartsfeld to do those ceremonies. I'm sure other airlines do it also.

That's part of my problem. I think it's just the season - and my age - that's getting to me. I can't read a screen for longer than a half hour before I get a headache. Trifocals are new, and in alignment, so it came be that. Lenscrafters rand a little check last week to make sure.

You could generate a news article and insert it into your chapter. Properly indented (both sides) and a change in font, with a attribution header over it. make it from some sort of climate watch group and word it like an open question to others: "Will the climate get better, or get worse?" Then, make it the topic of conversation between her and her father. Sort of "Did you read the article this morning from......."
