Re: Blog Openings to feature your book (10 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Sure, I'll take someone I don't know. And I'll take a non-fiction. I'll even take erotica as long as it doesn't have an X-rated cover or blurb, and I don't like anything kinky. Just your normal run of the mill sex between consenting partners, preferably only two at one time. Reading about more than that just tuckers me out!! When I went to see the latest Fifty Shades movie, I'm pretty sure I threw a hip out of joint just watching those two!!

I feature everything. Even erotica if the cover and blurb are not X-rated. Contact me at ann.everett@rocketmail.com so that I can send you the information packet with the questions and items I need from you such as cover, bio, blurb, etc. I'll also need your date preference. Excited to feature your book!

I have blog openings for July and August if any of you are interested in having your book featured. I post Five on Friday where I send you a list of questions and you choose 5 to answer. I post those along with your cover, blurb, bio, etc. If interested, please contact me offline at ann.everett@rocketmail.com
Thanks,

Hi Sol,
I think a tool like you mention would be helpful. Of course, the cost for the service would be a consideration. However, it'd sure be nice to know if those Facebook, twitter, posts I do are resulting in any clicks to my books!

I'm with Vern. Call me an old biddy, but if I don't get a response, they don't get another review! There are plenty of writers here that appreciate the time readers put in reviewing their work. I know I do!

Re: WHAT PUBLISHERS DO YOU USE? (8 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Amen. I have a really good fiverr person who does covers. You can find her here: https://www.fiverr.com/rachelbostwick
She did my Chirp cover and was super easy to work with. She lives in the Texas Hill Country.

Re: WHAT PUBLISHERS DO YOU USE? (8 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
I'm constantly amazed why writers want to go with a publishing company and make 8-40% on their books when they can self-publish and make 70% and maintain control. Each to his own, I suppose. :+)
If you're determined to go with a publisher, you might check out Copper Pen Press. They don't accept every genre but I know the man who owns the company and he's a good person.

Re: The Kurdish Connection Now Published (40 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Randy,
Congrats. Now...do you know how much it costs to mail a book from the US to Canada? I do. About $40-$50 bucks!!! You'd better revise that offer of covering the postage to Canada!! That's why when authors do a Goodreads giveaway or any giveaway, they usually say within the US only.

Re: Amazon cracking down on best-seller listing (10 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
I think they are only having problems with it being on the cover. On the back covers of my
Tizzy/Ridge trilogy, I have NYT best selling author (that's New York, Texas, Population 26)
A little tongue and cheek to the Best Seller List. To make the NYT list, you have to sell about 9,000 books in ONE week and the week runs from Monday to Monday, I think.
I have a book that Amazon put a best seller flag next to and it stayed that way for about 6-8 months. I never checked ranking, nor do I put best seller on any of my covers...except the NYT joke. Thank heavens. I'd hate to have to re-do covers!!

Re: WARNING to people who use Amazon link to promote their book (14 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Yes, the link should always stop after the ASIN number...and a recent change concerning ARC's. It is required that if a reader receives an ARC and then reviews, they must state they received a free copy. However, the wording has changed. Where it used to say...I received an advance reading copy in exchange for an honest review...It now must say...I received an advance reading copy in CONSIDERATION of an honest review. I have voluntarily reviewed this book. If a reader uses the word EXCHANGE, then Amazon can remove those reviews.

Re: Ann Everetts' Chirp (8 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Thanks to everyone who nominated Chirp and for the good wishes. Once I get some Kindle Scout experience under my belt, maybe I'll be able to provide information to those who want to give it a try. At this point, there doesn't seem to be a formula to acceptance. I only stayed in "Hot and Trending" 35% of the time and received 967 nominations. There are authors who have gotten as many as 2400 nominations, (which would put them in H&T just about 100% of the thirty-day nominating period) and still didn't get a contract offer.
Thanks to everyone who read and critiqued the book here, and again to all my connections who took the time to nominate Chirp. It means the world to me.
