I've read every installment of Ms. Taylor-Perry's The Raiford Chronicles. I didn't think the writing could get any better or a story line could get any deeper. Yet, King Satin's Realm is outstanding! It's a story that offers hope, even in your darkest hour. The hero is far from perfect, but he's a man for all to emulate. The feelings of family and friendship among the characters are something to hold on to and know that even when things are bad, faith and endurance make a person strong. The characters themselves leap off the page to become real to the reader. King Satin's Realm is a masterpiece, a must read. I can hardly wait for the sequel.

I've been privileged to read most of Ms. Taylor-Perry's work, both published and yet to be published. She says King Satin's Realm is the first novel she penned. One could only wish to be this good from the start. In my humble opinion, it is the best piece she's written. Authentic language, dialect, historical facts join to make this a fantasy unlike any I've ever encountered. Draconis is a place I would love to visit. And if you love dragons—meet an ensemble of reptilian characters that you root for and fall in love with. Get your copy today!

For the most part, I have no trouble. Agree with Norm about the cursor in the inline review though. But I've gotten so used to the site, I'd probably still click twice

Ok, so I can add Crichoton, Grisham, and Greg Iles. This is technically a genre I haven't read in a while--Thus Ludlum being a fave. I think I read him when I was a teenager. Oh, and maybe most favoritest------->John DeBoer.

Don't know if I have 10 or even if the two or three are in the right category. Ludlum, Clancy, Patterson.

Sorry I haven't been reviewing much lately. I've been swamped with getting King Satin's Realm out and then my son's wedding. I think I can get back on track now.

By this I am reminded of a joke by the master of dry irony, Emo Phillips:

Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"
He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"

He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"

Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.

You made me laugh. This will be included in my The Little Book of Things that Are so NOT Funny You Have to Laugh.

I think you did find. I wouldn't take that from anyone. If they don't want folks to share their successes and other announcements, then what the heck is their use? I applaud your response and support your decision to not renew. Personally, I think you held great restraint. smile

Thanks. Yes, I wanted to unload on the arse! And yes, I posted the exact same thing there as I did here, which included the link to read all the winners.

Ok, I get his point, but if you don't toot your on horn, it might not get tooted.

Janet: In your post, instead of boasting about yourself...just tell our Facebook folks. Read about the winners in the GCWA "Let's Write" contest. There is a huge difference in promoting yourself and promoting writers.

Notice the dunce can't even use the right preposition.

Providence or Coincidence?

Today I had to take my son to the ER for abdominal pain. Had to rule out appendicitis. It turned out to be pulled muscles.

On the way home, he said he was hungry, so we stopped at the Applebee's in Madison, MS to get a couple of half-price appetizers.

As we were leaving, the people in the car next to mine waved us down. The lady driving wanted to know where she could get the fourth book of The Raiford Chronicles. The magnetic sign on my car paid off!

Mrs. Mitchell, her name, had bought the other three books in the series at Livingston Mercantile, but did not have the last one in the series. I had some in my car and sold Whatever It Takes to her. Then, I showed her King Satin's Realm, and she bought it too!

After talking to this older couple, I discovered they were from Jones County, just like me. What a delightful turn of events from a stressful day.

I don't believe in coincidence. Providence made today happen.

As Larkin Sloan in Lucky Thirteen said, "You luck is what you make it. Your life is what you make it. So, go out and make it count." I sure hope today made my life count.

I think there is some misunderstanding. I didn't pay to be a part of the Facebook group, but the physical writers' group. This is just their Facebook page.

Never heard of it.

Well, I have decided not to renew my membership. I can put that money toward real marketing!

You guys and gals rock!

Guys and gals,

I am a member of a number of Facebook groups. Some of them are pages for local writers' groups that I have to pay dues to. I am so pissed off. This is a conversation of Facebook with the "president" of one of those groups. As you all should know, I just released King Satin's Realm. On April 13, I was a part of National Library Week with a large group of authors. And on Easter Sunday I placed in the top 10 Mississippi Reads in the state's largest newspaper. Finally, yesterday, I had a release party and signing at a local bookstore. Yes, I posted about those things in this group. Tell me if I'm wrong to seriously consider not sending money to renew my membership in this group.

MARK
Janet: I have you logged for 6 separate posts from April 13-29 on the Guild page. We cannot have an author posting so many times. I do not want to block you, but you must use restraint. The MWG Facebook page isn't like a twitter feed. Once again, we appreciate your moderation. Thanks

ME
You know, I don't post for several months running and only post to announce events and book releases. No more events until June. No new releases before the fall, if then. If you notice, my new book was released on my birthday, April 14, and I had a signing yesterday at Bay Window Books. The only other time I ever post is if I share a fellow member's news. But it seems fellow members never want to share my news or accomplishments. So, rest assured, I won't post, even if I win a Pulitzer.
