Topic: What are your secret on-line resources?

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering what secret weapon online resources everyone uses for writing?

One especially good site I found and use all the time, is rhymezone.com.

If you look up any word on rhymezone.com it has a menu item called [Synonyms / Related] that is invaluable to me. It's not only a list of synonyms, but also RELATED words. I find this essential to my writing when I don't want a synonym, but instead I want more words that are in the same orbit as the word in question. For example: looking up
"robot" you get [Synonyms / Related] words such as "exo-skeleton," "drone," and "cybernetic." Super helpful to me.

Just curious.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Cheers,

Also, I have been looking for a good online slang thesaurus, if anyone knows of any. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

Yup, both rhymezone nd urban dictionary are incredibly useful. Marram Webster seems to have redesigned its website and has a very instructive feature in its thesaurus which explains the nuances of synonyms branching from your word search.
I've also found a free mindmap app for Mac which allows me to - not automatically, thank god - generate fresh metaphors and imagery.

Thanks, for the info, Dae. Very useful.

Re: What are your secret on-line resources?

If I told you, it wouldn't be secret. Now, non-secret sources are different, but if I kept those to myself, then they might become secret also, which brings us  back full circle and round and round we go. Nonetheless, if you read all these various forums, which are secret to those who don't know about them, then though they are not really secret, they might provide some non-secret secret sources as long as you don't tell anyone where they came from. Just don't tell anyone I told you, okay. Take care. Vern
