Topic: A scruffy writing space is still a writing space

I've been writing in a corner of my bedroom for years - dreaming of an isolated cabin or a grand study.

Only now, reading this today, did I think twice and take pride in my scruffy little imagination portal.

Thought you guys may appreciate it, too.

The artwork is scrumptious, by the way: https://www.conservatoryland.com/famous … ng-spaces/

Thanks for sharing the link.  Not surprising that there's quite a variety of places for writers to read, write, create. For me it's often a coffeehouse, in the garden during the summer, and when no one else is at home, there. I see no problem with a corner in the bedroom, really anything can work. For me, though, I work best surrounded by the buzz of people, as long as they don't want anything from me.

Wow. That's interesting.

I do my best writing after midnight, sitting in my den in my recliner, feet up, laptop open, cat tucked underneath my left arm, sleeping. Snoring dog on the rug underneath the recliner.  Soft Indian flute music mixed with rain and thunder playing in the background.  Cup of Maxwell House Hazelnut Cafe coffee getting cold on the table beside me.  Then I fall asleep.  Oh well... so much for writing tonight.

Goodnight, all.

Re: A scruffy writing space is still a writing space

I write first thing in the morning or late at night. All depends on access to the computer and what we're doing on a given day.  When on our desktop, I'm in our office. If I use my laptop, I'm at the dining table (or sometimes at the kitchen island). No matter where I'm at, I have to have coffee--the brand doesn't matter.:)

What we use for an office would have been a bedroom but the original owners set it up like an office. Since the furniture was built-in, they left it. Otherwise, would just use our oak desk.

I have a home office, if you don't mind what you are saying. A desk, standing and sitting workstations, bookshelves, and my trusty laptop, printer, cell phone, all right in the corner of the living room, by a side door, with the kitchen table behind me. And I take my notebook (the one with rings and paper) everywhere.

My office is a living room, too. Who needs a living room, anyway.

Nice link. My writing space is my phone, wherever I can find a quite minute. Those a few and far between.
