Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Take this offline if you want: what drove AM to become what she is?

Sorry.  I'm a bit slow to see the obvious.

Owa Taboo Biam, to quote Oscar Madison.

The Horror bits are gems.  Kat has been studying gem magic from Faulter's private library.

Connection?  Eeek.  Ulp.  Oop   Errrg.  YAAaaaaaaahhh!!!

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

RPG authors say New Orleans, No City For You!

They're wrong on point two, by the way.  It's an eroded river delta.  Flowing water does things like that.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

AMis the twin and mother of Ghent children. Three of the kids were forcibly turned into the three hells as they reached adulthood.

To save the youngest, Alda kept Behira as an infant for as long as possible, and later an eternal child. It is why Alda can bring back the dead, but Behira can only heal.

In a similar way, Behira turned a Founder into the guild house, but with the person’s consent

Really cool!

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

'Child' here means the young girl we saw in the shadowbook?
So AM is potentially far more powerful--and dangerous--than either Saundon or Behira?  I can imagine them getting the willies.
And when Jaylene learns who AM is behind the mask ... does she really learn? .... why isn't she cringing  Character evolution here?

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

If Alda is secretly the individual mentioned above, how come she doesn't think any of this. Does she not remember it?

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Alda is the Veil.

New chapter is up with new material instead of just switching who-thought-what.
Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

I'm starting a six to eight hour review session.  I've got reviews to do up the wazoo, and, as some of you know, I have a very big wazoo.

My mother was fond of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books, and I've kept reading them in her menory.

Stephanie is a sorta' sweet not-too-young thing who works, improbably, as a bounty hunter.  She'd be dead if not for some male admirers.  One of them runs a very profitable security business, and has the money to give Stephanie expensive cars to drive.  And destroy, in ever more outrageous ways. Many are Mercedes or Porches.  At the average of two cars destroyed per book, and 24 mainline Stephanie Plum stories, she's up around 48 cars.  At $150,000 each (estimated) that's 7.2 million dollars of Ranger's 'entertainment' account she's sent to the internal combustion grave.

But who's counting?

Imaginations can be expensive things

You said nice things on your last review reply.  Let me remind you that I Really Believe in your story.  And you are a prince for putting up with all the ideas I hurl over the ramparts at your work.

I understand what you mean as well as what you say. That’s what friends are for

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

For those who don’t know me, I apologize for the abruptness of real life impinging on the forum but I need to give an update. I have cancer, and the last round of maintainance chemo was flunked and my tumor started to grow again.

The good news is that I’m on a new regimen and it’s working wonders. I can feel that the tumor is smaller (colon cancer for those who don’t know) it won’t give me a cure, but time...blessed time is now on the horizon.

So I’ve been dealing with the side effects of my current poison and I’m one big zit. Now I entertain myself by browsing the skin care aisle with the enthusiasm of a babe newborn.

I may have to write something if it makes the itch go away. NJC, it is time for a new chapter at the end, just to make you drool:-) I have a good week coming up so get ready...

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

oh ignore my asking where you have been in the Lights thread. I see here. I am so sorry you are working through cancer it is an awful thing.  But that your new treatment may be working is wonderful. Time is precious to us all, I fear all the time that my novel will not be finished before I am. Fingers crossed you get lots of lovely time for writing and chatting with us. I missed you.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

I’m here. I just sleep for 22hours a day one week out of two. I need to make time for NJC’s new chapter. (In my book, I mean)

He’s been waiting patiently. I gotta get writing

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

I second Lynne's comments. I'm glad the new treatment is helping. You are, of course, missed by all.

Sending healing vibes your way

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Be sure to give njc lots of dangling modifiers.

I'm still around and causing chaos. Dangling modifiers. Gotcha :-)

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

I wrote a page today! Whoopee!

1,898

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

I wrote another page, NJC. Each one gets me closer to the end of this chapter. However, it is like pulling teeth to get me to sit down. I've made a rule...when I'm up and can't sleep, and three o'clock arrives, I'm required to get my booty out of bed and write for an hour. Thursday nights have been exceptionally productive.

Next, I need to have the Wolves debate the shape of Jaylene's shield. Then they are going to drop the staff into the magical black hole and we will all see what happens :-)

Poor Faulter. He's finally going to have things happen to him that he didn't instigate. And they are completely deserved.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Somehow I think he's going to get off easy, no matter what you do to him.  Derek Lowe's 'when you're locked in a self-storage unit with two rabid wolverines, why not add a third?' seems far too tame, a whole different order of mellow.  Even if Ghen gets Most Seriously P**sed with him, it's not enough.

Oh, I'm alternating between making story notes, reviewing  and doing Unrelated Things, and drilling and cutting and threading and grinding for the physical design of project TopOfStack.  I'll have to find another photo hosting service so I can put some pictures up.  It's gonna look like Cousin It (in Lovecraftian Color) crossed with an hour-slot TV show's idea of a mad scientist's doomsday lottery machine.
