Topic: New Enhancements Released

We released several changes to the site today based on your feedback.


The first is a prominent change to how the homepage now displays new content to review. The feedback we received on the homepage was that the images were way too big and you liked the way the old site listed new writing by type. So, we have done that. It still needs a bit of work, but this is the general idea. If it looks terrible, you may need to clear the cache on your device. To do this on a non-Mac computer or laptop, press the ctrl and F5 keys simultaneously. On Macs or iPads, etc. you should just have to refresh the page. I'm still working on the correct combination for Android devices.


The second change is that we made some tweaks to the replay boxes on in-line and regular reviews to hopefully resolve issues iPad users have been having.  Let us know if leaving comments is any better.


Lastly, we modified the code a bit so that your points totals on the homepage are updated across devices.

I just checked my home page and I really like the size of the covers, it allows more views per page. Thank you sooooooo much! dags smile

Thanks a lot for this upgrade. The images are nice and it actually appeals to have book covers, but they were way to big. Now they are the right size. Also, I think is good to have the flavour of the old site where you had a list of everything that had been recently published, while keeping the new taste.

Well done, I think all of us will appreciate this change. Also, thanks for fixing the point but. My heart lost a beat the first time I saw it said I had only 0.82 points when I had about 8. I had to go to the points tab from the menu to check that I still had the rest of them.

By the way, I also liked the part where it indicates the last works published by my connections. If somebody asks to remove that part, don't pay attention. I have those writers as my connections for a reason, so if any of them publishes anything, I want to be able to realise it immediately and also to be able to access their content in a fast an easier way. Good feature.

I really love the way new works are listed by category. But I notice there is category for "New Poetry" and another for "New Poems." They contain different works. The reduction of cover size is a good idea to allow more per screen. I have a problem with scrolling and clicking which seem to have increased on this site. So the changes on the home screen are gratefully received.

Thanks Sol! This is definitely a step in the right direction! However, I'm a little confused by new novel v. new book and new poem v. new poetry. I suspect the "new book" people just clicked on that when most of them meant novel. It seems to me you could combine the two. Same with new poem and poetry, unless there really is a difference I'm unaware of.

He explained his rationale for breaking them up in another thread...while it makes a bit of sense, I guess, it's still a picky and confusing thing to add. Genre tagging is and always has been enough to figure out the difference between a non-fiction piece of work, and a novel.

Hi Sol
Really appreciate all your hard work!  I feel like I have the hang of the new site now, so don't change it too much now!!!!  LOL, you can't win!  big_smile  But seriously, the new site works.  I like all the little gadgets and stuff, like book covers and the little symbol-thingys that's all over the place.  Most importantly, I'm back to reading, reviewing and posting instead of fumbling around, which I think is what matters!

You are correct. Poem and Poetry is a mistake. All Poems are going to be moved to Poems and Poetry deleted. The same will be done for Novels, which will be moved into Books.

We're also going to increase the size of the images. We've received some feedback that they are a bit too small.
