My first reaction to the new TNBW site was very positive. That was twenty minutes ago.
I encountered a problem which should be of interest to the team who designed the site.
My latest book, developed in the TNBW workshop, was published three months ago. When I uploaded its front cover page, its image was distorted by extra text that was not on the cover. When I tried to remove the picture so I can try it again, I found that there was no way to remove it.
I'll try it again tomorrow.

I just spent the last thirty-six minutes uploading silly images to accompany my stories and whatsuch. Had a blast! I dunno, but so far? This new and improved TNBW seems to be living up to the claim. Have fun!

I'll look into it. You may have had the title generation on when you uploaded your image. There should be a way to delete images. If not, we'll add one pronto.

I'm still not able to leave an inline review. This is a function I was able to do just fine on two other critique sites, which I stopped using long ago, but when I highlight text, nothing happens. There is no way I can leave an inline review and I haven't seen any inlines on anything I've read yet. Of course this is just the first few hours. And when I'm typing something in a forum, the site keeps freezing. Is it that busy today?
Thanks,
MzP

I may know your problem. I'll reach out to you to troubleshoot further.

I noticed this too but you have to go to the BOTTOM of the chapter and click the INLINE REVIEW button first. Then it works fine.
Hello.
Is there a way to list who's reviewed my work so I know who I need to reciprocate to? I liked the convenience of having a list right there at the old site.
I noticed a very positive thing a few moments ago....after taking a break for dinner and time with the family, I returned to my homepage (not sure what the actual term is) and had a great listing of reviews and messages and a connection request. It was NICE to have that stuff populated and easy to see and respond to.
The only question I have regarding this is why aren't notification of reviews one of the boxes we can check to receive email notification? Is that option listed somewhere other than settings?
Speaking of writing feedback, I got a notice that three of my reviews have replies. How do I view those replies? Clicking on the notification link is useless, it just brings me to all the reviews I've done. I'd like to see the replies to my reviews right up front. Is there an easy way to do this, or does one have to go digging?
Hope Sol answers the above questions, since I have the same ones...

Your most recent reviews should be at the top. There should also be a filter for New reviews received although it looks like it was accidentally removed. Once you see your new reviews you can read and reply. I'll get it fixed.

THE NEXT BIG WRITER: helping make it you...
I dunno, Sol, but that puts me off a bit. The syntax, I mean. Work on it.
How's that for some irreverent literary criticism?!
Despite the bugs that are still being reported, which were somehow expected and which I don't think are critical, I liked the new site. Of course, we'll all need to learn how to use it and to make the most of it, which might not be super pleasant for everyday. However, I think that the overall thing is an improvement. Good job Sol!

I'm on my smartphone. I can't see how to read review replies, old or new. And what about new -replies received-? The old site made these 'inbox' items immediately visible.
Whatever you come up with, you have two different interfaces I have to figure out and remember. Neither seems intuitive. Perhaps they would seem intuitive if groups and connections were my concern. They are not. I want to review and be reviewed.

The new site makes reviews immediately visible as an alert on the homepage. The alert stays until the user has read and cleared all of the new reviews.
The site has only one version for web, mobile, tablet. The interface changes slightly to fit the form factor of each device but that is the nature of the mobile web. One version of the site for all devices is not possible and goes against every design concept.
Reviews, yes. But where are the replies to reviews? This part of the process is very valuable to me.
As far as going against design concepts ... why not let the user decide?
Are you designing an experience, which is necessarily subjective to the user, or a service, which can be described objectively?
HELP - Two issues, and forgive my lack of whatever. One; I published a new work today (first time using the new site) and the cover was auto generated. That's neat, BUT, due to the length I guess, the last word of the title did not show up on the cover. How can that be fixed?
Second; I received a review and wanted to reply. I found, at the bottom of the review, a place I can write something, BUT it says Edit or Update Your Reply. How do I simply make the original reply. I don't want to Edit or Update anything. Guidance anyone.

This is a bug in the auto-generation system. We'll have to look at it. It will probably be a bit before we get to it though, just to set expectations.

What type of review was it? An in-line? If you already replied, you have the option of editing that reply. Did you already put a reply? It would appear above the box you are referencing.
Sol- Thanks for getting back so soon - The review I have is an In-Line. To view the complete review I have to click on
View Complete Review, when I do that, I can read the whole thing, BUT there is no box before or after the review that allows me to make my original reply. There is a box AFTER the review, but as stated, it is for Updating or Editing my original response, which I can't make.

Just wanted to say that since I downloaded Chrome, I'm having no trouble at all. I can do inline or regular and I can comment on other inlines if I wish. I've been able to read inline comments made by other writers on someone else's work, too, so it's back to full time workshopping. Yes, I learn by reading, but I learn more by listening to the pros talk about their writing. And I've been able to scan through the free site to read a couple of other stories. Basically I don't have a complaint one today. But if I run into a problem I'll drop by with a question.

You can also comment on these inline comments.

You have to turn the text off.
When you uploaded the cover there is an option that is checked for 'add title/author'. If you click this and turn it off, the text will no longer appear.

Thanks for that Tirz....I up loaded a book cover and along with the title in my font was one with the sites font too...this really helps!
