I can't remember when I did not write. One of my poems was published when I was six (I am laughing, lovingly) and I have not done much since then to get my work out. I am a licensed psychotherapist and Mindfulness teacher, with a history in theatre, music, and design. I wanted a masters degree in psychology so I could write about Mindfulness, something I had practiced for decades. Instead of a How-To on Mindfulness, I wrote a psychological novel about attachments to material things (an obsession with boots, mostly), dealing with death, transformation, and Pittsburgh. I recently submitted this to an agent during a Writers Digest boot camp.
I choose Writer- Rider as a pen name because cycling has been a large part of my life--from bike racing to riding slow with my tablet in tow to stop for coffee and write. The bicycle is my vehicle. I wrote the Fixie Chronicles to describe the mindful process involved in riding a bicycle slower rather than fast, faster, fastest...a mode frequent in cycling clubs or groups. Will post my blog address soon. Thanks for reading!
