I'm one of those "writers" who is/was always going to write the "Great American novel" but hasn't. Well, not yet anyway. I'm hoping to become "incentivized" while participating on thenextbigwriter.com. I worked most of my career on a variety of defense contracts. I got into software engineering in 1960 and kinda stuck with it for lots of years. I have written a novel and a few short stories but never submitted them because they needed rewrite and I didn't feel up to the task. My primary excuse was that the story ideas didn't really grab me and, that being the case, I didn't think they'd grab much of an audience.
