Profile Information

Hi there. I was born and raised in a then small farming town, Hanford in the great central Valley of California. I learned about farming and welding early in life. That was the time when a man learned a trade or two so he could earn his keep that way. When I wasn't at school or at play, I was helping my father in his welding shop. I would go the the farms and help him fix tractors and trailers. After a long day we would spend an hour or more at the local bar (it was next to the shop) conversing with the farmers and other friends. I soon went to college where I studied history 3 units short of a minor)and learned engineering. After I graduated I got a job in engineering communications systems. I spent a wonderful 17 years outdoors in the sun (I love being outside). I soon developed an appreciation for the great Mojave desert where I live, work and play. During this time I drove all over the desert making sure items like generators, radars and radios worked correctly. I soon was asked to take a job reviewing & editing documentation. I soon became so adept at writing and reviewing that the demand for my talent skyrocketed. Many bosses and organizations wanted me to work for them. I was trained to generate docs in third person, without emotion and to 'Tell' and not 'Show'. As such it makes it difficult for me to write any other way. Even so the outside is still my passion. When one says Mojave desert most folk think of an unbearably hot and barren wasteland where all there are a skulls of dead cows sitting on top of sand dunes and people gasping for water while sweat is staining their clothes. But in my work I've developed a love and appreciation for the flora, fauna, natural wonders of this wonderful place that is not shared by many people. As such I am planning to share this appreciation within the written word. When I was young and a 'bad' boy (spent too much time at the bar, learning bad 'vocabulary') my parents sent me to church where I accepted Jesus as my Savior and began following Him. As such my friends were composed of many Christians with a few 'fenceriders' thrown in. At that time I learned I could spend Saturday nights dancing to disco and being 'heathenistic' (just couldn't give up my old life) and still go to church on Sunday and praise my Lord. After college I followed my first crush to the desert where I settled and she promptly dumped me (pun intended). After some dating, dancing, carousing and other stuff I met the love of my life, Amy. She straigtened me out and got the 'heathen' out of me. I now am volunteering to work with young boys in a Boy scout type setting. My daughter has moved on the college where she is studying to be a author (she the editor of her schools newspaper) and minister. My son wants to be an inventor and soon will be going to an engineering college. Meanwhile Amy and I support each other. When I not pouring my love out to her, I'm pouring my love out into the written word. History has aways interested me, especially that of this desert. As such I enjoy historical books (except renaissance stuff, I've just not been able to enjoy that). I'm also a romantic when it comes to places I have personally been. Being from Hanford I can relate to many of Steinbeck's novels. I also like many of Twain's novels. Now I am compeled to write books with somewhat Christian theme. To speak of the Love, Glory and Grace of my God. To talk about His transforming power. But I'm willing to get the attention of the reader with discussions of controvertial stuff, sins, and wicked thoughts. I wish to show the reader that you don't have to depend on these things to be happy. I believe that as long as I bring Him glory through the written word and do His will, He will use me abundantly. I hope you are blessed by my writings.
