Life theme: Writer. I am currently in my fifth year of a PhD program in Creative Writing and I am on faculty at two colleges where I teach writing in all its forms: research writing, business writing, and of course, creative writing. I'm also an avid reader and I teach literature ~ child and adolescent literature, American literature, and women's lit. I've lived the life of a newspaper reporter and worked as an editor at a publishing company; these days I'm concentrating on my dissertation project -- I mainly write adolescent fiction. However, I also enjoy literary fiction and have a number of short stories published as well as nonfiction pieces and yes -- one poem. (I secretly admire poets and their wonderful use of language.) In short, I love writing and connecting with other writers. I'm a huge fan of the Cheshire Cat, Judy Blume, and my secret vice is watching endless episodes of "South Park." As you might gather from many of my writings ~ I'm a displaced New Orleans Soul. I'm happily and untraditionally married; someday I hope my coaxing works and we'll end up back in the Big Easy. Other random things about me ~ I'm inked and pierced; heriditary mystic of Czech origin; and clowns terrify me. "We're all mad here!
