Profile Information

Corey Aaron Burkes was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Jamaica, Queens November 7th 1968. His earliest writing began at the age of five, constantly designing stories for his mother, friends and family until May of 1977 when Star Wars debuted, freeing his imagination in directions he never thought possible. Praying deeply, Corey desired to be able to captivate an audience profoundly as he was. And the answer came—not in so many words—live life. And that he did, sampling almost everything life had to offer—the highs and lows of relationships, college life (Nassau Community), careers, employment, travel and vast friendships of multi-cultures—discovering, ever so slowly, who he was as much as the world around him. Every step of the way, writing voraciously and squirreling away his stories. These were the old days, prior to ‘desktop publishing’, when traditional author-submission publishing ruled the land … and a writer’s dues were paid by rejection letters. As it turns out, experiencing life’s good, bad and ugly and seeking a wider scope of friendships outside of his common surroundings had been the secret to Corey’s persistent writing, which—regardless of his past financial or relationship status—stayed consistent at a confirmed twenty original stories per week. His ability to see the flow of a story is based on living the flow of life—a wave pattern that carries the audience emotions from one arc to another, as does life’s real-time motion picture. Therein lies the storytelling he always wanted to achieve—the ability to move a person’s emotions—by understanding first he had to live life. Corey is married with children, has a highly-successful website (desktopepics.com) of his short works featuring the internet-renown ‘The N-Word’ (since 2000 has received millions of views). He has completed his first short film, ‘The Daylight Werewolf’ in 2006 which continues to be well-received on youtube and heralded for its special effects. He has published his debut action/adventure thriller, Butta’ and the Tower of Bling July 2007 with a freely downloadable podcast of the book currently enjoying hundreds of monthly downloads at www.getsomebutta.com. Through his company, he is also producer and host of the very successful and well-listened IndepthYOU Show, where he interviews guests with inspirational stories of their own. As it turns out … the art of living is his art of writing and he keeps his pledge for providing story and character driven content noted by the company slogan: Stories You Can Feel.
