I am a mother of two young children and I am looking for a way to reclaim some of my adult brain muscles and develop my fiction writing skills. I have the need to write, which I have tried to ignore in the past, thinking it immature and time-costly, yet I am at a time in my life where I am giving into that temptation, and I welcome it. I want to write! For the last two summers I have taken an online writing courses at Gotham, which I found to be fabulous. My only complaint is that when the ten weeks of the course are gone, so is my discipline. I am looking for motivation, encouragement, and brutal honesty- Yes, I want a Simon Cowell of the short story critiquing world!- to keep me chugging along to my goal of being published. I could say I just want to write for the fun of it, but I’m afraid I’ll need more validation than that. I have a few pieces that I am working on, stories that I’ve been told are close…but, something’s missing…That’s where I’m hoping this group will help me, to tighten the screws and find missing nuts and bolts. I am also looking to network, to find contacts, find some inside tunnels to the writing world I have not been privy to before.
