Joe Ferry Profile

I lecture to Medical students on molecular biology. I lead a small (but successful!) research team working on how cancer escapes from the immune system. I have published around 60 research papers in various medical/scientific journals, including Cancer Research, Journal of Immunology, and Nature Medicine. To be honest, apart from my main project (based on an important discovery I made back in the early nineties) I am more interested in music and literature than in science or medicine. I'm a little pissed off at the widely held view that a "science guy" couldn't possibly have any artistic interests or abilitiy. I've been writing bits of poetry over the past 10-15 years or so, but only recently gathered my poems together and typed them up. I showed them to some friends with literary knowledge, who were amazed that I had produced such work, and said my poems were quite good! So I really want to get my poems published.
