Profile Information

Writer, actor, comedian Andy Wasif was raised in the suburbs of Boston and attended Syracuse University with an eye on sports broadcasting, but found his calling in comedy instead.

After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a tv writer, but got sidetracked with stand-up comedy, performing in clubs and colleges across North America, and improv, studying at Improv Olympic, Acme Comedy Theatre, and Upright Citizens Brigade.

Since then, he has molded two passions together – humor and baseball – penning three popular books on his favorite sports team, the Boston Red Sox, and the relationship the fans have with their arch rivals in New York City – “How to Talk to a Yankee Fan” (Seven Locks Press, 2006), “Red Sox University” (Triumph Books, 2009), and “Red Sox Fans are From Mars, Yankees Fans are From Uranus” (Triumph Books, 2010), the last becoming a Boston Globe bestseller in April of 2012.   He has also been featured in “Red Sox and Philosophy” (Open Court Press, 2010).

These successes as a sports humorist earned him his own blog on “The PostGame,” Yahoo! Sports’ on-line magazine, entitled “Wasif’s World.”  He also has made numerous public appearances due to his literary work including at Fenway Park during Jimmy Fund Fantasy Day in 2008, at Google as part of their Authors@Google series in 2009, and at the 2010 Boston Book Festival on a panel entitled “Writing About America’s Favorite Pastime,” alongside ESPN’s Howard Bryant and NPR’s Bill Littlefield.

More recently, he has sold a screenplay - “The 70-Year Itch,” a romantic comedy about a couple married fifty years who, shortly after moving into a retirement community, decide to separate and play the field - which is currently in development at a major studio. And his latest project - a comedy series entitled "Adult Puberty" - has just finished production.

Currently, Andy lives in Los Angeles and would rather risk his life biking around town than get stuck in traffic.
