Writing is a largely unrealised passion of mine - the last 'real' writing I did was probably in high school. Of course, I don't include the masses of 'memoirs' I've kept in journals, millions of essays I've completed for my teaching degree, and of course, my largest project thus far, my 15,000 word thesis. Having 121 references just isn't writing to me though ... The stuff I'm passionate about is fiction. I started writing a 'tween' novel in the summer uni break, and have received enough encouragement through sharing it on Facebook to gather the courage to post something on a more 'official' forum in the quest for confirmation of whether or not I have talent to pursue. Writing is a joy for me, and something of a luxury. It has taken a lot of support from friends and family to 'put myself out there' though - sharing my writing is fraught with a combination of terror and apprehension. You'll see from my blog http://sybssunnysideup.blogspot.com/ that I am from Queensland, Australia. Much of my writing is about what I know, so my immediate environment often features. This is worth knowing when you read my work, as I understand the majority of reviewers are American, so spelling and phrasing may be slightly different. Perhaps the warped Aussie sense of humour, also!
