New member: Hello TNBW World!

Hi, I'm J. M. VT.  I'm a new member and checking it all out.  I posted my first content -- a short story -- and received two in-line reviews.  So...so far, so good! Actually, both reviews were helpful and think I might really like this site.

I am an experienced writer but very new at fiction.  Now I wonder why it took me so long!  Well, at least I'm here now.

I enjoy reviewing as well as receiving them.  I am a member of a private FB writer's group and took two classes in Fiction Creative Writing, so I have a little practice in reading and responding to others' writing.  My reviewing rules for myself are:  1)  If I don't like anything about the writing, I don't review it. 2) I start with what I do like and the things I responded well to; 3) I think abt the structure and if there's anything that stands out for me that would strengthen the power of story; 4) I look for discontinuities that break my connection to the story; 5) I look for any questions that came up for me; 6) I occasionally comment on word choices, but not so much in first drafts; 7) I do a last pass to provide an overall -- then decide if that should be the first thing in the review.
