Topic: Zero point of view story?

Has anyone read/written a book or story with a "zero point of view"? (I'm totally just making up this phrase)
Example:
...
You walk down the steps and find a dark cavern, and suddenly recall that you forgot to turn off the burner on your stove.
"Shit." You say to yourself in frustration, realizing that you'll have to come back later."
...
Something like that... LOL
Is this a thing? Is their anyone writing stories like this?
Or is the whole thing avoided due to the difficulty in the writing?...

Re: Zero point of view story?

That's second-person POV. It exists but is uncommon, at least among the books I read.

Re: Zero point of view story?

Second person point of view... Of course. Duh.
I suppose I didn't recognize it because usually when I think of Second person point of view, what comes to mind is something akin to reading the commands in an assembly manual. With somebody telling someone what to do.
And the intention behind that kind of writing and the one I was imagining is different, where I am not so much trying to command or speak to the reader directly, but rather lend the reader a sense of doing / participating in the story themselves. But I can see now what you mean. Its not different enough to call it something else, .

Re: Zero point of view story?

I've read one story from 2nd person and even written one story from that. It's different. It's fun. And it can get published.
