Topic: Any interest in a collaboration project?

~2 years ago, I was in a brief funk with my writing.
I had finished 3 novels that I was proud of, though I knew they needed a LOT of work. I began writing short stories to take some of the stress off.  Novels are hard, hehe.
So, I suggested to a friend of a friend, who was in the same boat, that he and I go back and forth, chapter to chapter, writing a story and seeing where it went.
I wrote the first entry, opening things up with some direction. He replied a couple days later with chapter 2. Neither of us having a clue (except for our previous entries) where the piece was going. Things began rolling and we got a good dozen chapters down (over 50 pages worth of material) before it fell apart, for no reason other than other projects consuming our time.

Any interest in something like this?

It was a fun experiment. And somehow, fruitful. It was interesting to see where we'd each take the tale upon reading the other's entry. And I would 'test' beta readers out to see if they knew who'd written which chapters and such.
Anyways, just an idea.

I challenge Ann Everett to take this on!  Both of you write with such quirkiness and wit that I think I may be hard-pressed to figure out who wrote what!!

Y'all are too funny! In my local critique group, there is a husband/wife writing team and they publish at least two books a year. I tell them all of the time how envious I am they both write! My husband doesn't have a writer's bone in his body. I've often wondered how it would be to write with someone else. One of my favorite authors, Jennifer Cruise writes with Bob Mayer. She writes the "love" part, and he writes the action. I love their books!
However, I doubt I'd be much of a partner. I struggle to get one book a year written!

Was just thinking out loud. It was a fun exercise. And it was interesting how I saw each of our styles begin to drift closer to the center of each other.

I recommend it, if even as a fleeting project. No commitment necessary.  wink

I'd be interested, but I doubt if I have the time, given that my book has fissioned twice, and is now four books (not counting the one that has the same characters and background but is a different novel).  Now, if it were someone who could guarantee I was a best seller?  Sorry, Justin, but James Patterson, you're not.  Love you anyway.  Rhia
