Topic: Repost Chapters?

One thing I miss from the old site is re-posting chapters to publish to the larger community. I have noticed some author's deleting their old stories and reentering them to achieve this.

Is there a way to republish I'm not aware of?

Can we have a return of this functionality?

Another issue. I was looking for a search feature in the forum to see if anyone posted on this topic. Search feature would be quite helpful.

Re: Repost Chapters?

I think the re-posting thing is now done by posting the chapter as a new version.

When you say search feature, do you mean in the forum for a topic? You can search for author or titles.

Re: Repost Chapters?

Matthew, for a comprehensive search, go to any forum, click on the "Show your posts" link (on the dark blue line at the top of the page), then click on "User defined search", then click on "Advanced search".

This feature really needs to be on the home page or somewhere else more visible. I suspect few people even know it exists.

You spend too much time on the forums, Dirk! JK. I didn't know, so thanks.

Too bad we don't have the number of overall posts by each contributor listed under their name in the forums the way it was on the old site. Then you could really tell who was active relative to someone/anyone else. Take care. Vern

Re: Repost Chapters?

I'm going to re-open this as a request.

I have a few close-knit reviewers (thanks, "guys"!) and oftimes I would like to repub-for-points--pay my points over again so my reviewers will be rewarded for coming back and re-evaluating my work.  I can do this by copy-to-new-version, but then I (and my reviewers!) lose all the existing reviews.

I'm asking Sol and his team to look for a way to accomplish this without messing too deeply with their system.  It could be a way to take the money#####points and clear the 'you reviewed this already' info (will that work within the existing data model?) or to copy the text, history, and reviews to the new version while somehow marking the existing reviews as 'historical' so they are not counted when deciding whether to reward a new review (but that could duplicate a lot of data, unless you found a way to link the history stacks), or some more clever way that fits the existing data model.

Of course, it will help to know how many other people will be helped by this.

Re: Repost Chapters?

NJC, you don't automatically lose your old reviews when you post a new version of a chapter. If the old version is made invisible to reviewers, *you* still have the ability to see it and its reviews. If you want reviewers to have access to the old reviews, you can leave the old version visible alongside the new version. That way everyone will see the old version and reviews, as well as the new version.

Re: Repost Chapters?

I've done that.  It confuses readers and potential reviewers.  Die-hard reviewers are not deterred, but what about new ones?
